At this point, instead of being dead, I would have taken 5000 less damage, and would not have gotten low health agro. Assuming I had 11000 hp to start with, at this point I would have 5845 HP left, and an extra few seconds for my own heal to land, or for other people to react to me getting hit.
So, AG absorbs 5000 damage.
Is that a lot? No, not really. 5000hp isn't a huge amount when mobs hit for 1387.
Is it an improvement? Definitely, no-one can say otherwise.
Is it enough? Possibly - at least it buys a little extra time, and in situations like this where our healers usually assist heal pretty promptly and have HoTT, and tanks are pretty good at taking agro back from casters, it may well be enough.
