Sounds pretty cool. I'm interested to see what's going on in LGuk. I have heard reports of race raids and endurance raids.

Seems pretty interesting and looks like a good promotion to try get people back into playing EQ. Boosting playing numbers is a goodness.

Mind you the usual whiners on the sony boards are up in arms at this offer, because it's not aimed at them, it is aimed at attracting people.

Good timing for "Your Hardcore Heritage"

WoW is in it's (usual) pre-expansion depression and, with Blizzard taking the direction of PvP/eSports only, those PvE players are looking for something other (or familiar with). AoC is a niche of it's own, other games are old/stale already or not released yet ;)

It got me to log in, but I haven't left PoK/Baz area at all yet. Not sure if I really want to play or just chat with friends.

Last time I came back I got right back into nightly raids and with a baby that just didn't work.

Anyways, it's nice to be posting here again and see a lot of the old timers are still around. The new artwork is absolutely fantastic (on the site).

FYI there is a new single player scenario (under Legacy), thats pretty easy to win, has a preset deck, so if you've never played, you dont even have to try and put a deck together, and nets you in game loot if you beat it, 5 xp pots and a levitate clicky.

The clicky is just a particle effect, not levitate.

I resurrected my 2nd account a week or so before this offer was made, so I missed out on all the new /claim items. On the other paw, my bard's druid pet probably wouldn't be 53 by now (starting from level 5) if I had known about the upcoming offer and had waited a week.

Hi, I'm a retired EQ player. I was bored about a week ago and decided to go to sony's site and download the trial thing, the one that lets you play the first 10 levels in that cave area. I'd been thinking about EQ and all the great fun and adventures I had, doing raids, XP groups and the fun challenges they face, and setting my alarm clock fo all kinds of weird hours for different spawns. OK some of that wasn't fun at the time but the reward of accomplishment was the payoff. Other games lack that greater sense of self accomplishment - even though it's just pixels, you really had to want something to be successful. No other game made you pour as much blood sweat and tears into it than EQ. While I hated EQ for that, it's also the reason why I still look back at it so fondly.

Anyways, I downloaded that trial and as it's patching, I noticed the returning player announcement and was elated. I let it all patch, and skipped the trial and jumped right back onto my shaman. I ran around a few places, then realized I had absolutely no idea what to do or where to go. I only kinda kept up with game changes, IE I read the sales pitch for each expansion when I got the email accnouncement and cursed saying 'another expansion? they just put one out!' lol.

So, the first place I came to for information was here. Yeah, I'm a long time reader, first time poster :p. I read this site, and it's predecesor before Samanna took the regins which I for get it's name, and the one before that (eqshaman?). When I stopped EQ, I still continued to read this site for a few months. btw, I quit in 2004, right after omens came out. So the site looks good. Sam has done an excellent job, as always. I really like the reference desk links on the side, I've used them a lot. I'm still lost as to what I could do for the few weeks I'll have an active account. I'm guildess, as I think they moved to another server. I'm gimp, since I'm wearing gear from 4 years ago, and it wasn't even that great then. I'm also broke, only 1000pp to my name. Plus, I'm gun shy cause I don't have a rez bot or friends to help me if I bite the big one.

What I'd like to do is experience some new content. I'm sure that with in the last few years, theres been some things that are soloable, that would be worthwhile to go visit. I found the monster mission person in PoK, but have not followed up on one of those. Stephen51 mentioned a scenario under legacy? That sounds interesting, except I dont know where Legacy is. What's a good map site so I could better follow the topology of the new expansions? Any good sites to look up level specific content without having to pay for a premium membership? Where's a good place to solo for XP at level 67? These are the things I'm looking for, and if anyone could point me in the right direction, I'd be much appreciative for them doing so :)

The most handy change seems to be Guild Lobby (right off of PoK) - I'd stay bound there. Summoning your corpse isn't expensive once you start killing in the newer zones, and even on a low pop server like Test, I have yet to see someone ask for a rez and not find one. Nobody takes money for stuff like that on Test, so you're only out the cost of the summon. ;)

The name of the maps download site is around here somewhere, can't remember it offhand.

For those who ate the carret here is the stick.

With the Living Legacy events winding down, a little reminder to those of you who took advantage of the free play time for inactive accounts:

Yeah but its a sugar candy coated stick.
I know a great deal of the people that have returned during this promotion quit back in PoP,GoD,OoW so all they have to do is pay the 15 for a monthly and bam get from 3-6 expansions for free, thats not bad esp if some of them returning had more than 1 acct.
