The negative side effect is added clutter to the AA window of every shaman playing Everquest.

Eirgorn, even if you had to wait two and a half minutes past the refresh time of the AA button to find a safe time to use it, using the improved version would still get you more mana regen. Only people who are bad at math use the lower one, ever.

If frenzied canni will take you to an uncomfortable HP level, dont buy it until you replace your lvl 55 twink gear. Every shaman that was around in pop that worrily pressed canni 5 in BoT and had thier HPs drop to 30-40% has already been thru this. stop whining that you are at 50% HPs on your twink box, get some augs/gear like the ones brogh listed .

Well I snagged the canni upgrade last night and I LOVE IT!!!!

While root/rotting it has virtually eliminated any downtime I once had, and every other time I click it I can heal the 4k with my 1.5 click.

I was a little skittish to use it last night duoing Gloomfang, since I got caught by a couple random ramps that knocked me down quite a bit - but still didnt have any mana problems.

And yes I was around in BoT when CanniV knocked me down quite alot when PoP was first released - but that was years ago and I just recently returned (left during GoD) so I was a little apprehensice about getting it and any low hp aggro that may come along for the ride.
