i bet he meant that not fizzling on our slows (due to the reduction of fizzling from the secondary forte) would save mana.

i could use a 20k mana pool with ft 100, lol. just this morning as the only shammy on a 15 person mini-raid, i was constantly cannied as fast as it would repop and getting healed by a cleric, /whew. i was keeping two groups championed and panthered, doing the slowing for every mob, rebuffing any rezzed, keeping lassitude on the pally mt, and TRYING to sit to med whenever possible. every mana conserving trick i can find i want to use. having a mount is great, but sony makes that a no-go too often to depend on.
i redid my spec to be alteration as primary and conjuration as secondary, so i hope that will help. i expect to get the anguish helm this week, if it drops.

Specialization skills do nothing to reduce fizzles.

I'm absolutely 100% sure that specialization affects nothing except the mana consumed when you cast a spell.

im pretty sure its the normal spell skill that effects fizzling not specialzation. I have long since stoped believing casters realm

but really i dont know or care, its a small diffence.

Spec skillcap for all skills but primary/ secondary is now 75 not 50, it was raised when they raised all the skillcaps.

Secondary forte's description still says that it raises your skillcap to 100.

Did they raise the amount that secondary forte goes to without changing the AA description or does it only give an extra 25 points?

If it only gives an extra 25 points these days then its no longer as good as it was, and I am not sure whether to spend 9 AA's on it just yet.

Your primary specialisation cap was raised to 250 (was 200) since TSS and the secondary specialisation cap is 125 now. All the others are 75 (from 50).

Specialisation does affect the fizzle rate, it's a pretty small effect though.

The effects of specialisation were posted by one of the developers, Rashere I think, in one of the many threads about bards after the fix to the mastery of the past time caused them to miss many notes. I cannot recall exactly what it does (and I'm at work so no extensive searching allowed), but it was a reduction in the fizzle rate much like (specialisation skill/100)
