Originally Pact was Spirit of the Black Wolf, something which gave a 15% saving to detrimental spells, black spirit wolf illusion and a disease resist boost. The duration was only a few minutes and the recast timer ended up as being an hour.

It was tweaked into a werewolf illusion with 99% haste and an ATK boost, but that would also have had a short duration due to the points mentioned above. At the last minute, due to howls of protests from shamans at its imminent removal, it was tweaked into the current version which offers nothing we can't already do except the illusion. There were a few on the boards who just wanted to scrap the whole thing, but as the choice was between a fun, fluff AA or zilch, I was glad to see it stay in.

And yep while I still need many AA, bought this cause it looked cool

I don't understand why they can't just switch our bear illusion (other than the cool polar bear form for the barbs, perhaps) from the old ugly bear form to the newer bear form that is already in the game (like the ones in the bear caves in Nedaria's Landing and Cresent Reach).

Because they must use global models, and the 'LDoN Bear' models are not global, they only exist in certain zones.

The one annoying thing about this AA is that it's not yet compatible with permanent shrink. If you switch in and out of werewolf you pop back to original size every time. Gets you yelled at during Demi runs with the gargoyles casting garg illusion on you for not being shrunk.
