I for one am pretty happy with this. I actually prefer a ~60 sec duration over a longer one. Mainly due to less loss in between pulling. Yea, I know, everyone *always* have constant mobs in camp, yadda yadda, my groups suck, blabla, keep it coming.../sarcasm off
While it doesnt look THAT awesome when you compare the numbers, it rocks as far as practicality and real in-game use.

Talisman of the Panther (and regualr panther) can be cast on people who are NOT in your group. This makes this spell incredibly valuable. I used it in CoA last night and we had crazy DPS on the named mobs. I think there is speculationt hat this might get nerfed, but until it does it is very very nice. Even used in group situations, if you have more than 2 melee this spell is more efficient than casting panther on each melee. i use it when we have multiple mobs in camp or when we are fighting a more difficult mob. I have found it to be very useful.

Well I have read this thread since its birth...because I am a glutton for pain...and last night I finally got around to putting away teh baby drakkin and going back to my shaman. It just so happens that the group I was in (nope not in theory but the actual group!) was 2 bsts, an sk, me, a druid, and a cleric. Yeah. I was chain casting single panther on both bsts, their pets, the sk, his pet, and my puppy. I would have been casting on myself and swinging away as well, but you know...with all the time casting panther and slowing I couldn't do anything else! Most of us hit 71 (one of the bsts was 72 already anyway) and the druid ported us all around to get our new spells. You know what... ToP kicks ass regardless of the cost.

Granted, if they started basing all group spells mana off of ToP it would suck, but there have already been quotes from devs stating the mana on ToP was its balancing factor, and if you look at all the other group spells with this expansion across the board for all classes I am pretty sure none of them follow the same formula. ( I could be wrong, feel free to call me bad names and burn pictures of my toon at the stake if I am)

So when you take a bunch of group spells and pick out one of them and begin to worry over the future of all group spells, despite the fact the rest of the group spells don't follow its formula and a dev had already commented on why it followed its own formula... just seems to me like you are trying to find a reason to argue about it. Still I measure the value of any addition to the game in how it affects my play time and I must say that being able to click 1 spell gem 1 time in the same amount of time I would be clicking 1 gem 6 times makes it worth it to me. Hell even in groups where I only have 3 melee or 2 and my own pet I will be using this instead of single panther. Is it mana efficient...no...but it gives me more time to do other stuff which gives me more pleasure while playing my shaman so the extra cost is offset by a heaping pile of smiles and sunshine.

The fact that Talis Panther is castable out of group makes it really nice. I was keeping my group + 1 other panthered for a lot of the raid. It was a great way to burn mana. Otherwise I simply could not cast fast enough
