Does the xp rate on seem broken to anyone else? Recently got it for both my toons and also got for my bard. My typical grind area is the Lair of the Blackwing in DoN so we tried doing some xpage there after training light blue mobs didn't seem to xp the mask very quickly. The mask gets around 2% xp per Blackwing, the cloak was getting more like 15% and they're fairly comprable in terms of stats. One of my grind buddies did some research and others are saying that intelligent items like the mask (it can emote, oo wow) seem to xp much more slowly than non-intelligent evolving items. Anyone know the rationale on this? Way I'm figuring it, it'll take about 100 Nest runs, ~ 100 hours all said and done to max my mask out and that seems assinine in the extreme. Serious flashbacks to the old hell levels...

Yeah it took me pretty close to 600aa to level my Shattered Blade (also intelligent). It seems quite a bit slower than the mask though. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't have bothered.

I've got Kil's to 42% (of the first level) in a week or so, but that's grinding pretty hard. It seems that the fewer people you have in group, the more xp/kill you get on the mask. We were getting about 2% per Nest run with 6, did it with 4 the other day and got around 2.5%. Still, that's 40 hours to level it to level 2. Can anyone comment on how the xp comes in once the mask is level two? Is it slower, the same, faster?

It's more that the cloak takes far less exp to evolve than the rest.

Well, by the third evolved form Rakban is really coming to life. He nearly carries on conversations with you It's only cool, not good, but it's REALLY cool. He celebrates your victories with you, comiserates over defeats. Laughs at your friends who die. Praises your abilities in battle. Helps (spiritually) with discovering and scouting new areas. He is feral, so sometimes he gets a little worked up when entering a hunt, or taking down prey.

He's the best cheerleader you'll ever have in EQ. Even though he's a complete barn, I love having him around. It's the closest I've gotten to that "never alone in the world" feeling that I always had with my magician, and I really appreciate it. Doggie is nice, and the Spirits that are Called, but there's no question that you the shaman is the leader of that pack. It can be lonely at the top, but Rakban is up there with you. He's a pack leader, too.

The fully evolved mask is by far my favorite posession in game, past Vermillion Sky Ring, Braided Horsehair Handbag, and Skull of Vishimtar.
