Don't think you have to dedicate a lot of time for raiding on FV. The #2 guild on the server is a DKP guild that only requires a 30% attendance to bid on gear.

Other than that, Ungkor's post says it all.

I have 2-3-4boxed off and on these past few years and i have used the sk/shm combo, there is also the ranger/shm duo. If you stick to outside zones a ranger can lullpull with great efficency, and with the right AAs they can tank too. This is also true for the berserker. If you plan on duoing with a non-snare class, be sure to make an innoruukworshiping trollshaman and do the clericquest in Neriak for the clicky snare necklace.

I can 2box without undue hardship performance-wise, with a p4 1.9 & 512Mb of ram. I have 2-3 models turned on for each one, just for the characters that want to use mounts, but particles are off for both and (this is a big one) sound is off. Sound and particles both add a ton of overhead to the processing power.

All that said, I don't often 2box, because what I've found is that Brohg > Brohg + *. Unless there's some key capability I absolutely need to function, 2boxing is almost universally anti-synergistic. I tank, pull, heal, and maintain mana better, and deal more damage by just running Brohg, than by running Brohg and another character together. Mind you, I'm not talking ghetto twinks, either; I mean twoboxing melee whose gear is on par with my own. Being a good shaman is so time-intensive that the more attention you devote, the more you get back. About the only thing I'll 2box these days are "fire & forget" characters like cleric in cheal rotation, autofollow bard on /melody, or chanter with a hotkey to nuke 4x & "/tell Brohg nuke!" I rarely do even that.

Thank you all for the time you have taken and the information you have provided.

To answer a few questions that have come up...

We will duo 99% of the time , and build groups around us if needed (or one of us can 2box to get missions started).
We don't mind taking it slow and easy, getting to 70 in the next 2 weeks is NOT our goal.
Yes we could add another account and bring up a cleric (one character per account on FV so one could take care of us both).
We like to explore (including dungeon crawls), do missions, DoN's, LDoN's, tradeskills, and camp named for drops when possiable.
No we haven't started looking into guilds much on FV yet. We are in the Pacific time zone which causes issues at times. Along with most of our weekends being tied up doing RL things together. We usually play for 2 to 5 hours in the evenings and weekends once in a while. When we get a few levels under our belts we may see what is out there for us as far as a guild.

Thanks again everyone

You have 3h after any death to find a cle standing around to click bodies. Don't level cle just for rez. You'd be way better off with some character that would add damage. Without being really well geared / high levelled, sk & shm are a couple of the lowest dps classes in game. Add a monk, or a necromancer, or magician. I think the best reason to add a third is so that you guys can have leaderstuff.

Is the berserker on the same mitagatoin table as the ranger, but with knight HPs? I'm still learning about the berserker class and haven't found many to chat with, or a site other then the SoE boards. They seem to be a very missunderstood class yet, along with possiably not being finished.

How is their ability to hold agro? Will one have the ability to tank most any mob that is about to be taken as a duo or small group?

Just want to get a clear picture on who ot focus on and not regret it after I've made it to 70 and ground out 300+ AA's.

Thanks everyone, you have been a ton of help.

When you say that you want to be able to hunt as broad a range of targets as possible, you tip the scales toward SK. The chain classes would help you kill more mobs faster, but would not have the same range of targets that the SK would give you.

The extra mitigation will allow you to survive more difficult individual encounters than a chain tank could. Also, with FD and pet pulling, you will be able to access content that you would not otherwise be able to pull safely.

The SK pet becomes another target for Panther (and with pet affinity Champion too!) which helps make up some of the DPS loss.

My 2nd char is an SK that i duo with myself, and i love it. I cant think of any other class i'd rather duo with as a 2nd box. Just my 2cp worth

I'd suggest a bard - you need something that can single pull, and can snare runners if you want to do dungeons.

A bard isn't a very good tank, but can tank one mob better than another class can tank 3 mobs if you don't have a decent puller. I emphasize the need to be able to do dungeons, becuase otherwise you are stuck with limited, less interesting content.

Berserkers hold agro very very well. They sometimes have rather extraordinary problems getting too much agro on raids; it's what holds them back from blowing rogues out of the water, honestly.

Monk perspective:

My monk is my main, and the shaman is the bot. Aggro is never an issue for me. I slow on incoming with the monk. I keep him HoTed/Panthered, and mobs slowed and just dps the mob down. The snare question really isn't super important for that duo, as monks get a snare aa or it's easy to camp an anklesmasher(or buy one if you have the money). Monks avoid and mitigate well. Mend works every 7 minutes, healing 25% to 50%(if you have the AA's) of his health, so in pinch situations I can slap the mend key and deal with the mob on the shammy. VP is also an option that I frequently utilize.

With the monk, I can tank anything I want(can duo fire, mpg, 69.1[with downtime], NC, etc), and pull anything I want-- and dps it down in a reasonable amount of time.

If I had to pick another class besides the monk, I'd go SK. Anything else sounds not so much fun. Honestly, though, shaman go well with basically any class. Pick what seems most fun to you, and run with that.
