Pondering.... what the heck is up with Druid/shammy spells?

Priest classes (Druid, Cleric, and Shammy) get a series of two or three newbie quests specifc to their diety, doable from the early teens to mid twenties that result in clickies for very low level spells, some of which are not priest castable.

Followers of Innoruuk (Troll Shammies in this case) get the "Regent Symbol of Innoruuk" as their final clickie in this series, which casts Clinging Darkness, the lowest level necromancer/shadowknight snare. (See )

As I recall, the iksar (Cazic-Thule) series was only two, an animal and an undead fear; don't recall what the others are. In any case, this is the reason that many people choose Trolls over Iksar or Ogres if they want to maintain soloing power. If you haven't already looked into this line, you should probably go to allakhazam and do a search for "symbol of xxx" where xxx is your diety; you may have a useful clickie or two available that you didn't know about.

Also, with regard to the druid pet; he is useful for one thing - pet pulling. He'll con green to anything L54 or above, so if he manages to survive the pull (via pre-cast Heal over time and/or rune), he can grab some solo mobs for you when you're in a situation where you can't harmony. Other than that, though, I would have to agree that he's pretty much just screen clutter.

/envy barbarian Great Bear

As a young Vah Shir, I so longed for the day I would turn 55 and shed the ugly marsh bear form for a sleek, beautiful, elegant (except for the lip curl) polar bear. You see, I'd seen that barbarians got a grizzly I think? for the first bearform, and the lovely polarbear at 55, so I knew mine would change... I was so eager, I couldn't wait, I looked it up on CastersRealm and a post there said I would get polar bear too! oOoOo!! So I turned 55, instantly memmed the spell, cancelled old bear form and cast and...

.... same old ugly marsh bear. It doesn't even change like barbarians' do (not sure about other races) -- even their first bear is better than mine anyway.

I look like a runty ogre beastlord pet.

I used bearform as little as possible after that

L30ish (or whatever the heck, I don't know what the low level spells are anymore) = Brown for all races.

Hmmm... wouldn't it be sweet if we could summon voodoo dolls? Release them for older spells we still use and don't want to burn a spell gem on. Give us a cool quest for each one starting early in a shaman's career. Teaching us to progressively make more powerful dolls. Today's high end dolls might be PoP spells. Next major expansion might offer Omens Dolls. Something like:

I have the snare neck on my cleric, rarely use it though since it isn't clickable from inventory,
my current neck item has mana pres II on it so not all hot to replace it, but having a snare option is always nice.

ok the voodoo idea is actually pretty cool, my only comment about that in terms of actual use is that it would need more than 1 charge or be stackable just simply due to resists, or summon it in the form of another spell with the same basic effect but with a resist mod.
