Here's my piece:
While using MQ isn't exactly ethical, it is mainly used to alleviate repetative and annoying things in this game. The development team in no way endorses active hacks like warp, no aggro, no summon, infinite range through-walls archery, etc.
I have a hotkey which is 5 lines of /pause 20, /cast 8 to cannibalize, which lets me run and get a soda or something during downtime. What would be the evil in a macro to canni/sit/hot yourself so you can med while afk like everyone else? Or something which pulls out an item, clicks it, and bags it again. Bandolier anyone? Potion belt? Three buttons instead of one.
Most of the people who use MQ are folks who in no way are detrimental to anyone's gameplay, and not providing themselves any significant advantage over the average joe, save a little less insanity inducing repetition. That's why people get pissed when MQ gets dragged through the mud by the exploit du jour.
I'm not saying MQ users are saints, but lumping them into the "evil hackers out to steal your intarwebz" pile is retarded.
