Spell usefulness derail

They're not a plethora of idiots, Cer. Your comparison between Ether Flame and Hungry Plague was very very silly. Both are situational, but the situation for your spell arises about once a minute, on average, except in the uncommon cases of completely fire-immune mobs. Shaman only use their level 70 DoD spell when they go quite far out of their way to find a time & place to use it. Most shaman never use it. The two spells can't really be compared on the scale of "situational" because they're completely out of scale. It really is a shit spell, it really does have 0 use, and we have in fact sent up numerous petitions, emails, smoke signals, et al to that effect. Recognising that, as you have... it rather begs the question of what you meant by your post, don't you think?

It seems the main point of this currently is:
a) You have a different perception of what situational is than I do.
b) And that your instinctive reactions are far different than mine when under duress.

If that's what you're saying, I can agree to that and move on. But I can't see how something I've said would put you into an instinctive mode. I'm not that threatening in-game

If you're a shaman and have hp , is it memmed? No.
They're not even remotely comparable.

Cereall, you have a very powerful new spell. Be happy. You can't chain cast it, because of mana and aggro; but it still blasts these big gaping holes in mobs. That's a good thing. We are all glad for you, that you got something nice (even though it isn't absolutely everything you want in a new nuke).

If you guys are going to continue to peck at my words, quote every thing I say rather than little pieces at a time. I never ever f***ing said EF was a downgrade in DPS. I said it was a downgrade in efficiency, and nothing more. Efficiency is not equal in the slightest to DPS (damage per Second). They are 2 components (of many) that comprises overall damage given in an event.

Of course any high end wizard keeps EF memmed, and shamans don't mem HP during raids. I never said any different.

Ok so let me ask you how man times you have used EF, i mean how many times have you ever cast this, 1, maybe 100....1000's?

Well i can honestly say that i have never even memmed HP, as i cannot find a use for the spell.

Now if we polled every wizard with EF and see how many used it regular and how many shaman use HP, you tell me that their would be a similar usage

I think that there is situational, and then there is SITUATIONAL.

Every spell is situational, as various people have mentioned. Its a matter of scale, though. The wizard spell in question is deemed "situational" because of low efficiency, high mana cost, and increased agro. Fair enough. The shaman spell in question is deemed situational because you have to be able to tank every single mob that the spell has a chance of landing on, AT ONCE. That's quite a difference in scale, I think we can all agree.

Does that make hungry plague useless? No. In fact, I doubt that very many people in this thread have said it was useless. It doesn't make it useful, either, though. I guess that the argument is that most (if not all) other classes got a spell that was rather useful. How useful? Well, why not pick a number between 0 and 100 percent. Ether Flame... 70. Maybe 60 is you really value efficiency. Maybe even 50 if you are in a situation where you absolutely can't get agro or you're toast. Now, considering that, rate Hungry Plague. 2? 5? It really depends on how much time you spend farming. If you farm alot, its handy. If you don't, its not. Unless you do nothing BUT farm, however, theres no possible way you could say this spell is useful more than 15% of the time. So... 50 (at the extreme low end) vs. 15 (at the extreme high end).

I personally am ok with HP as-is, but I can see why people would feel bitter. Those DoD spells are HARD to get for a lot of people (but not so hard to get for others). It really depends on your guild and/or your friends. Either way, though, its not as trivial as simply slaughtering stuff in MPG until a rune drops and then winning a random. Isn't it reasonable to say that you'd like to get a spell thats at least useful more than 15 percent of the time for expending that much effort?

How would you feel if you did your epic 1.5 or 2.0 and got an item that gave you +1 flowing thought instad of whatever it currently does? Wouldn't you feel like you wasted your time? If I snapped my fingers and hungry plauge landed on my cursor, I wouldn't be annoyed. Its a sort-of-useful spell in my opinion. I didn't snap my fingers though. I did 5 pretty hard missions.
