I understand how people like to remember the old days were shamans were this or that. Face it, things have changed. You need to accept that. I remember when as a monk I was a god, for lack of a better word....what happened? Yeah. But that is a whole different story. I understand you want some dps, as does every class. But you also have to remember there are classes out there who as there primary role they are a dps class, atm in EQ there are to many dps classes. Shamans are by far imo, the most balanced class in EQ. I can get a group with my shaman faster than my monk any day of the week. If shamans have there dps raised, then it's just one more thing they are bringing. I don't think the Shaman class needs anything else really.
I'm coming here as a monk, and I know my role in grps is getting pushed to the wayside. Nearly any class out there can pull just as well as a monk if not better...that is if actually pulling is even required. DoN's anyone can pull, RS isn't hard, WoS isn't hard, pulling is no longer the skill that it used to be. So that portion of a monks ability is gone for the most part, sure we can pull very well. But since it isn't needed anymore it makes the ability pretty much null and void. Then you move to our dps, well other classes have moved in on this. Rogues always been on top, as they should be. But the fact is monks just aren't the same dps class they where a long time ago. If you want to look at DPS of melee classes, there is a great thread you can see over on the warrior boards.
So, what I'm saying is say you give shamans the ability to easily push out 600dps etc, where does that leave the classes who's primary ability is dps?
Why all this effort to make us a dps class?

Ive parsed myself at 533dps on the "fake tunat" in Tacvi.
Thats 8dots runing champ and panther on me and dogs +chain nukes, thats 533dps from a full burn on a mobb with no resists and me totaly ignoring the raid dutys such as healing my grp.
We can DPS good enough today IF the mobbs resists allow us to do so, i have no desire whatsoever to compete with the real DPS classes , i just want to be able to land my dots atleast as often as my fellow priest the druid!

Okay, to about 60% of the people posting on this thread . . . NO NO NO NO NO!
DPS in a single tic is MEANINGLESS. I've harped on this a few times, and it STILL seems to pass over some folks heads . . .
Pick a time when the mob is 'engaged.' Be consistant. It can be when the mob gets in pull range if the area is open and you can cast on it, or it can be when the mob gets to camp. That is 0. Start your timer. When the mob dies, stop your timer.
Every single person who is just sitting there adding numbers, ie 70 x 5 for panther + dogdog + 2 DoTs = 500,000 dps--oh look! I'm a god!--you are just flat out WRONG.
Numbers have increased with the cut in cast times, but you still have to figure cast times, recast times, DoT tics, etc. for an accurate estimate of dps. Try taking a 1.5 minute fight. Do some combinations of DoTs/Nukes/Panther. Recast is 2.25. Remember to refresh DoTs as they wear off. If you lead with a malos, that will drop your DPS.
You CANNOT divide your DoT damage by 6, add in some nukes, and call that your dps. You're comparing to PARSED numbers from other classes, which includes delays and recasts.
Don't be that guy. Engage the brain before engaging the mouth/fingers.

Will be interesting to see how Silent Casting works. My problem as an end game raider is that if I have the opportunity to stack dots, I will almost certainly pull aggro. SC looks to me to be a 40% reduction in net aggro (100% reduction for 1 min out of 2.5), so if added to the 6% drop from epic might make a difference. And before Toruk starts in, I play with top end tanks and if I'm stacking 5+ dots odds are good I'll get summoned.
