One thing people seem to forget a lot in these threads, which makes me usually believe the appearance of non-randomness or clumpiness is only in the eye of the watcher, is that you are rarely receiving the continuous output of the RNG. Devs have pretty much confirmed that one RNG services whole zones, you don't have your own, so odds are, even though you got 6 GoM procs in a row, there were likely 10s if not hundreds of RNG outputs in between each of your GoM procs. Considering this also has a randomizing effect, apparent clumpiness would not result even if excess clumpiness were a real part of the RNG output.
