IF the necro WTD pets had different skills, which the developer was questioning, he asserted that they're not supposed to, so their argument wasn't going anywhere.
Personally, as for you people arguing for access to outdated, worse abilities, just because you're bad at math, at the cost of clutter in my AA window, I'd give you all remorselessly painful noogies if I could reach you, then give you hot McDonalds coffee to hold in your laps to keep you busy, so you'd stop asking for this change.
I think the spirit call and cannibalization aa should be uncoupled, if people who aren't stupid want it, but they don't.

Sometimes I just want a small bite. If there are lots of mobs, and I'm taking damage but need mana....
Don't want to risk going too low and getting low HP aggro.
It all depends on how you play. Even if its just very situational and not all that useful, it is still usefulness that was lost through dev neglect, and not through any planned purpose.
