AA Versus Lvl Question?

Hi all

I just got 2 blue into lvl 68 for my ogre shaman and I am really torn .

Basically from what I have read the consus seems to be lvl THEN aa exp?

The problem is that is you look at my aa's they are VERY low , here is my Magelo: http://www.magelo.com/eq_view_profile.html?num=687967

I do NOT belong to a guild, so was wondering if I am really going to get much benefit outa lvl 70 (It's doubtfull i will get any of the runes needed for those lvl spells,) versus at least for now Finishing off some of my Core aa's.

I would Love to finish scr3 nd and maybe get scm,vp, and maybe do some of the healing aa's .

Any Opinions or ideas would be VERY appreciated And If you could look at my aa's, such as what would seem the best core aa;s that i should get and what order atm I am just partnering with my ranger doing the murkglider caves in Wos.

Huge big enormous overwhelming advantage from levelling first instead of AA. It is an old topic, so I'm sure you've read the reasons. Just wanted personal attention?

Hey Brohg, easy with the attitude.

Zhaag, in my opinion, it is much better to level to 70. If the regular exp grind gets to unbearable, stop and knock out a few fun AAs just to give yourself some fun new abilities (like VP) before getting right back into the grind. You will be more powerful compared to mobs, able to get into certain zones (RSS comes to mind) and will be more attractive to groups looking for shaman.

Plus, level 70 gives you access to some KEY abilities - Call of the Wild and Spirtual Channeling.

As far as 69, 70 spell drops - I did a group in MPG this weekend (near Odi, we call it the "power" camp on Emarr). We saw 2 70s and 1 69 rune drop in about 4 hours of play. You don't have to be uber to get spells!!

You'll definitely want Level over AA, with few exceptions.

Glori hit the nail on the head regarding leveling while getting AA. Pretty much the only AA I'd tell you to stop and get is Canni 5 (if you don't already have it; I can't open Magelos from this machine). You will get plenty of benefit from being level 70, guild or not ... more HP/mana, better ability for groups (RSS, anyone?), etc. You don't have to be "uber" or in a guild to get your 69 and 70 spells, that's for sure. MPG and RSS (I much prefer RSS for runes) will do you more than fine. Once you hit 70, well, that's kinda hard to offer advice on since there are a great many different AA paths and everybody's different.

As far as rune drops go, on my server if you aren't at the level to scribe the spell, you often are not a allowed in the random. It would suck to be 68 and see 70 runes drop and not be in the random!

It always amazes me that people actually take the time to type out rude, condescending responses - while I understand that some personalities may think like that, taking the time to type out a response and then several replies to someone that you have no intention of helping is just plain silly. But then again some folks just feel the need to be that way /sad.

As for the original question - aside from getting the required AA's to get Cann V - it's probably better to wait till 70 when they mount up quickly in zones such as RSS.

I agree.

Saying something rude can happen in a second and can be dismissed as a slip of the tongue or whatever.

To actually take the time to type out something rude is entirely different.

When i asked myself this very question i decided to look at it from the "groups" point of view. If was setting up a group and invited a 70 shaman i would expect him to have at least the basic core AA's. Dont rush to level 70, get whay you need to fulfill your role in groups as you go, i've never grouped with a shammy yet that didnt at least have canni5. From a purely selfish point of view rushing to 70 will get you a few more groups sure because theres a lot of simple minded players out there that see 70 as some mystic number that means your great. I'd chose a level 65 with a few hundred AA over a 70 with 4aa any given day of the week.
