Aye, Riviting, I hear what you're saying. Sadly, that post was back when terms like sustained DPS were not yet common. Bracy got the definition of DPS wrong, had some PC vs. mob damge ratio in mind, then tried to switch the shift to damage efficiency. Slow time, rofl.
Nowadays we know that panther, haste, and champ are cooperative DPS that a shaman brings to the group. When a rogue or mage joins a group, the group's overall DPS goes up by X amount, and that rogue can look at his parses and go, yep, there's my X amount of damage I brought to the group. The shaman has to look at the group's DPS it had before and after he joined, and that's how much DPS he brings to the group. And that can be on the same level as another "true" DPS class. Looking at it this way, foolish Bracy was grasping at the truth, but being too pig-headed about it to be taken seriously.
