They don't actually increase your max damage directly, they add to your weapons SKILLS by 5% and 10% for might and champion, which in turns adds to an increase in your weapon damage (for you or your pet.) That is why it comes to less than 5/10% in practice when you cast on your pet.
As for stamina, it has no effect on pet HPS. Notice when you cast Stamina on someone who doesn't yet have it, there HP "drops" 1%, because they max amount has increased without the actual going up. This doesn't happen on pets. If you get a low HP pet and have him get beat on and then cast stamina and check the damage dealt you will get the same numbers as well.
EDIT: Also, the mages at 69 get a spell that adds the same effect as Might to their pet, they won't get the damage increase from casting Might on them at that point, because they won't stack, but Champion will increase it.
