First, Berserker has the best mitigation of all chain classes. In my guild there is a Paladin who go so feed up w/ being gimped (Anguish level) he rolled and PL'd a Berserker. Took him <3 days played to get to 70, 7 days to get 200AAs. He is now tops rogues on DPS burst fights and only looses to wizards (w/ epic2). He routinely duos Reparms Tower in PoFire with a shaman that looks a lot like mine w/o a problem. The key for him to do this was to get his PoP Def AAs.
W/o AAs and Time lvl 2hander (.6 ratio), Berserker DPS is not that good. But once they get there AAs and weapon, it goes through the roof.
Berserkers, like Rogues, Rangers, Monks, Beastlords, and Bards are not raid level tanks. But all these classes, with sufficient def AAs, can tank high end xp zones (Nest/RS/Hive) just fine w/ cleric heals.

The public raiding group I run with has rogues, rangers and wizards in the top 5 slot for tunare. Our berserker is in the top 3 for damage parses.
Average yar lir fight lasts 6 minutes 13 seconds up to 7 minutes 45 seconds, depending on Veteran Raider to Weekend Warrior ratio
