I was wondering if others had the same result I did when casting a better slow over Hungry Plague:

If the mob is slowed with a better slow before the AE goes off then there is no AE effect.

If it is slowed after the AE with Discord/Turgurs then there will be ONE more AE that uses the better slow.

try aeing in seb with this, and having audio trigers set to cue on "yawn"...its like a machine gun on my speakers, and non stop reslowing and worn off on my chat windows. but still a 25% slow to 70 mobs that never wears off is great...now i wonder why our demiplane focus extends this spell...Its perpetual, as long as 2 mobs are around...and pointless to cast on 1 mob

That's if you don't slow the first mob with a better slow right? Just let Hungry Plague keep firing itself?

[edit: Trying to work out how this would work in a raid situation with more than 1 shaman slowing.)

only VS wont overwrite/block this slow. so if your going to have multiple mobs in camp for more than 2 minbutes...and 25% slow mitigated down to whatever is good enough for you...this spell is for you.

You are right Maccuul. By "secondary" I meant the mobs slowed by the mob I hit with HP. They do not keep casting HP. Only the first mob I hit with HP will keep slowing others. Having other shaman in the mix doing it also gives you more mobs actively slowing other mobs. The other problems you mention are big problems. The agro generated from slowing lots of mobs over time is also a problem. [See thread on shaman "survivability". Lol]

I've been trying to give this an honest look at where and how I would ever use it and am just not seeing it. It won't keep spreading the slow so it's limited to a PBAE type situation where Vindictive Spirit would be better. You can mez a mob and infect it and let it slow mobs as they are pulled to camp while doing trash clearing but still hardly worth it and pretty clumsy compared to just straightforward slowing. Even thought of /dueling a pet class with /pet hold to cast this on the pet and park among the tanks for a slow "ward" type of thing. But all those are just not worth it and more likely to fail than slowing mobs as they come in or using VS on them if there are a lot.

The Devs suggested the DoD spells where designed for specific DoD raid situations but that is just nonsense. They developed some good general purpose spells for some classes and did some that they thought sounded "cool" but just don't work. This is one of the latter ones.

I've been trying to think of ways to make it useable but really can't.

1. They can't make it keep spreading or it will be subject to terrible misuse.
2. Having the refresh be much less than the duration sounds good but you still have the fact it's a PBAE type situation. VS and further slowing is still the better way to go.
3. Increasing the duration to 3 to 6 minutes sounds good but still not better than our other slows.

If it would proc an AE malos I would be all over it. But not just another slow that does no more than what we already have.

All I can say Scowls is you must have a different spell than I do. I went back to EF cast HP on a mob then walked it to the next waiting for the slow message, then on to the next. After I got the worn off message from the first mob no new mobs were slowed and the old ones were no longer slowed either.

The spell does wear off over a couple ticks on the secondary mobs but it doesn't seem to wear off over a full 1 minute period. Wears off faster on the other mobs it seems.

i think thats what your saying is what i mean....cast HP on mob A, he spreadd it to B and C, they spready it onward, when mob A drops HSs it gets proced back on him by another mob...making it perpetual, it just keeps going. no it doesnt ovr write itself and keep the timer at full all the time, but it renews itself instantly when it drops by taking a brok from one of the other mobs its still active on...thats the perpetual part, it ends, timer wise, but as long as theres 2 mobs that have been infected either by my cast or a proc, it just keeps recycling itself on them
as far as the text spam, its insane with 50 frogs in seb. also with an audio trigger set to yawn, it sounds like a machine gun at times. once it starts wearing off mobs, you start gettting chains of HS wore off spam, followed by yawn span and constant audio chimes.

yes ive seen the lucy display, but in seb they dont seem to slow that much with HP, when you blase a VS you see a very noticable amount of slow on them mobs

but soe has been known to mix these up on the descriptions before. maybe it is a 40%, but it sure doesnt seem like it, especially with VS making them slow so much nore noticeably

I've been doing my testing over the last 2 or 3 days. What I am seeing is I slow A. A then slows B, C, etc. A keeps slowing mobs until HP wears off. B, C, etc. do NOT slow other mobs.

Scowls and Maccuull have reported that they are seeing B, C, etc. slowing other mobs. I'm wondering if you guys tested more than 3 days or so ago and if perhaps the spell got nerfed. Could you guys try it again and see if you are still seeing the other mobs slowing others?

The range to a mob for HP is 200 but the AE radius for the "infection" appears to me to be about 20 (certainly not more than 50).

I don't have this spell yet, but was wondering about a specific situation where it might be useful. Has anyone tried this against lower tier raid mobs like TT? If you could land it on her just before her moth spawn, would it then keep all the moths slowed until all the adds were handled? Also what about Tiorpat in RCoD, if you cast on him as he spawned the first blue dragorn, if the tanks weren't able to kill it before the next spawned, could you then be sure that it would be slowed and concentrate on patch healing etc. until the adds were killed off? Just trying to think of situations I have seen where it might be useful as I have never seen Time and don't even attempt to solo more than one or two mobs at a time.
