Best Shaman Slow.

Just a quick question,

At 85, what is the Shamans best single target slow?

Depends how you want to define "best".

Best as of max slow and of same type and identic in slow effect are the following (so all best):

lvl 51 Turgur's Insects (resist 0)
lvl 65 Balance of the Nihil (resist -40)
lvl 69 Balance of Discord (resist -60)
AA Turgur's Swarm (resist -25)

lvl 83 Counterbias (resist -60)

Those spells differ in duration, resist mod and manaconsume. The turgur's last 6,5 minutes, the others around 1.5 minutes.

Counterbias is a derivate of Balance of Discord and has ontop an heal over time on your targets target (mostly the maintank).


Up to SOD most would use the AA-slow Turgur's swarm at it is fast cast, long duration and cost 0 mana. Some would have memmed Balance of Discord for safety for the cases Turgurs-AA would get resisted on first attempt. Others instead would have memmed the PBAE slow to fall back on, even if doesn't slow as much, it has the benefit to slow all mobs in camp at once, so it would be of much benefit on an overpull.

For me the single best actually is counterbias, as his additional Heal over time does stack with almost everything.

My most used is the swarm, just simply due to its duration, it is already very eldomly resisted, back up by a memmed counterbias.

Is counterbias recourse affected by buff extension btw?

Counterbias is super. I routinely overwrite it with Turgs AA anytime mobs aren't dying immediately, but it's definitely a new staple.

I'm confused with counterbias......I was under the impression it was vastly inferior to Balance of Discord in turns of slow %'s.

From initial uses, I could parse mob dps as way higher while under counterbias effect...as opposed to balance of discord .... yet people claim to love it? Again, I'm still confused.

anybody know the "worn off" message for Healing Counterbias? Like to setup an audio trigger, cept can seem to find it while parsing the log.

I got vonvinced by HC II, the 3.2k HOT is nice and helps a lot in UF. In my case it runs for ~42 sec, I use it more like a regular HOT, refreshing it if I feel the need to "heal" some more.
If you have a good tank you can also slap it on the inc mob and heal the puller.

I still use BoD / BoN for the lower cast times over counterbias. The heal from Healing Counterbias is nice but it doesn't stack with Promised....and I hate the slower cast time on my slows. I use the new one in groups only for the most part.

I swore I've seen it overwritten..and also received a "did not take hold message" ...possibly by the Promised that the merc uses. Unless a tank is just clicking off the HoT or full buffs or something... I'll have to do some testing and get back to this.
