The Spirit Realm

Just for quick and easy reference, both to the players and ideally to the Devs, I'd like to put together a definative list of spells that are completely or partially broken. Please post if you know of a spell that should be on the list and what's broken about it. Do not post with "this spell sucks, that's how it's broken" and other tuning-related responses.

Ancestral Intervention - Doesn't crit, and is supposed to be able to. Devs have acknowledged it.
Preincarnation - The 'Second Life' function of the spell works, but if the shaman dies it's supposed to cast some sort of Second Life on the other group members, but it currently doesn't. Don't know if a Dev has acknowledged the problem.
Thorn Wilting - Removes spell-based Damage Shields, but item-based Damage shields continue to fire. Don't know if a Dev has acknowledged the problem.
Feralize/Feralisis - Druid Version will overwrite the Shaman version, but not vice versa
Ward of Resurgence - If the shaman is stunned or casting a spell when the rune breaks, the HoT doesn't proc. This might or might not apply to times the shaman is sitting, has the spell book open, FD, or any other time when a spell can't be cast but a proc should (and in most cases does) fire. Don't know if a Dev has acknowledged the problem.
Breath of Antraygus - The AE will not land on mobs that are higher on the z-axis than the shaman. It will land on mobs if the shaman is looking down a slope, but not on mobs if the shaman is looking up a slope. Don't know if a Dev has acknowledged the problem.
Idol of Malo/Idol of Malos - Can end up on target using F8 or a Cycle NPC hotkey. Has been acknowledged by Devs, and I think they claimed to have fixed it at some point, but they never have.
Grow - Will not work on someone who has been shrunk. IE, you can grow someone, then shrink them back down, but you can't shrink someone, then grow them back up.
Tiny Terror - Will not cast if you have an NPC targeted, but will if you have a PC, yourself, or nothing targeted.
Vindictive Spirit/Tortugone's/Rolist's Drowse - Will not cast if you have yourself targeted. If a mob or other PC is targeted, it goes off like a PBAE should, but if you have yourself targeted, gives a "This spell cannot be cast on that PC" message and won't cast.
Fulkitcher's Weave - Does not block corruption-counter spells as intended, supposedly for the same reason that Puratus also doesn't currently work. Was supposedly fixed at one point, but currently is still broken.

Fixed spells

Lingering Sloth/Lassitude/Languor - The slow and applicable heal proc were resetting the swing rate on non-hybrids, causeing them to lose DPS when they had this buff. During swarm-farming greenies it could halt melee attacks altogether. Fixed.

Is thorn supposed to be on us or to be used on mobs to limit their DS? I still see no use of blocking our OWN DS's. If its for mobs then it needs a detrim tag and not a beni tag so was can hit them with it.

Fulkitcher Weave has been fixed.

That it was fixed or that it's still broken? I cannot find my log file from the last time I did Lethar 2.0 ... I remember using the spell and it working. Perhaps Waring has a log of the fight still.

Nope can't get to my log from that but I do remember it working and when I asked about it in severwide before we engaged him others where reporting it was working in solteris.

Kk, I've updated the list to show that it was fixed. I also added in the bit about Lass/Sloth resetting the swing rate and how it was fixed, since apparently some people still ask.

I suspect thorn wilting was supposed to mitigate damage shields the same way that the new mod damage shield mitigation is supposed to since they are both currently doing the same thing. Who in their right mind would want damage shield mitigation on gear that lowers their damage shield. Of course I am sure they couldn't get the code to work properly and therefore scrapped thorn wilting to its current form and left the broken mod in the game. Personally I don't know why shaman got thorn wilting in the first place, it sounds like a druid spell to me seeing as they have been the ones asking for something to take care of the damage shield portion of their aa hot and as far as I know shaman never asked for a spell like this. Even the name doesn't sound very shamanistic to me but more druidish.

As for other broken/partially broken spells....Idol of malo still gets targeted by cycle npc (at least it did last time I used it.)

Thorn wilting - something that affects damage shields should be a druid line of spells, not a shaman one. I consider the spell to be totally out of class, as well as a waste of space.

/agree Veril. Fob it off on those classes with the specialist plantbane spells.

Pretty sure that Damage Shield Mitigation, the mod on gear, is indeed supposed to reduce the damage you take when hitting something else's damage shield, since if you do want to have the full amount of damage shield, it's easy to click off the buff, but since almost every piece of SoF gear has at least -some- DS mitigation, you'd have to have an entire seperate set of equipment. Besides, there are plenty of gear pieces with an equal amount of DS and DS mitigation. So it give you a point of DS, but also takes it away?

/agree on thorn not in shaman line. We dont even have DS spells except potions and our 1 BP click.

Prathun acknowledged to me, a while back, that there was a problem with Ward of Mystifying's DS deactivation ability (essentially the same code as Thorn Wilting) and +DS gear. He said that it "might not be possible" to get it to disable +DS gear. Which kinda sucks. But it's at least sortof an acknowledgement of the issue.

If at all possible, I'd like to keep this thread limited to discussing the broken aspect of applicable spells, not the merit of spells being of this class or that class. Ideally, there will be a comprehensive list of what's actually broken so that a Dev can get a quick and easy reference of what needs to be fixed, rather than having to wade through pages of "this spell sucks, we don't want it, what the smurf is wrong with you for giving it to us, yadda yadda yadda." There are plenty of other threads discussing the pros and cons of Thorn Wilting and it being or not being a shaman spell.

I have discovered that Grow does not Grow.

Well, bleh. I had to use it recently on a raid when I accidentally shrunk a tank who somehow had ended up in my group. He wanted to be grown back and I couldn't do it. Seems like Grow should Grow, particularly when the person has been shrunk and they do not wish to be.

Tiny Terror has a "flaw" in it. This spell will only affect the people in your group, however you cannot cast this spell if you have an NPC selected. Almost all other spells of this type work no matter who is selected (i.e. champion, ghost of renewal etc)

I think it would be nice if Acumen or Acumen of Dar Khura actually would get fixed to regenerate endurance, rather than the archaic "stamina regen" it has had since they changed stamina to endurance.

No spell will return endurance. the devs have stated multiple times that thay do not want melee endurance returns to be dependant on caster spells. It's not going to happen

Been doing alot of grinding lately, notice Swift Like the Wind wont stick to me (the shaman casting it).

Casting the spell, or using my Scaled Avatar's Hauberk, it sticks every time on dogdog, but targetting myself. No matter how I try, the buff never appears.

This didn't need to be in multiple threads. Check your blocked buffs list.

OK, when I wrote this I was at work and going off of 9 month old memory and some old notes. I'm at home now and have had time to ask a few questions and learned that this bug has been fixed.

Parse it with a character that can only swing once and doesn't rely on a double / triple attack / dual wield check. That can change parses significantly.

Using a druid, shaman, or any int caster w/o ferocity focus on gear for parse would be ideal.

Preincarnation may be fixed. Died in group the other day, got a very fast rez, a little bit later came the spam of: Your Preincarnation Incarnation has worn off GroupMemberXXXX.

Searched to see if this fix had been posted elsewhere, couldn't find one. As I don't die that terribly often in groups, and I haven't been really raiding, I haven't checked to see if this works all the time now, or just a chance for it to fire. No one else died in the group to see if this saved them from death. This was definitely after the most recent long patch, and maybe after one or 2 of the emergency patches since.

Preincarnation was fixed a few patches ago.

At rank 2, it has a 29% chance to fire when you die (making you invulnerable) and it then auto-casts a spell on your group members which gives *them* a 10% chance to become invulnerable when *they* die. In practice, I've not really noticed it helping much.

Fullkitcher's Weave (and Puratus) was fixed in the December 23, 2008 patch. I haven't confirmed it -- its in the patch notes though.
