Thorn wilting working as intended?

So I cast thorn wilting on myself, and it seems to reduce the damage mobs take from *my* damage shield from its curent value down to 15 damage. Whether my DS was 18, 23, 47 or 50, it got reduced to 15 damage when I had thorn wilting active on myself.

I did some tests on animals in Everfrost peaks using charm animal. Both with or without thorn wilting on the charmed pets they still took full damage from my damage shield when they hit me without thorn wilting active on myself. However, when the charmed pets had thorn wilting or not, if I had thorn wilting on myself, they took 15.

Am I missing something? Is this supposed to be a detrimental that got coded as a beneficial? Why would I want to reduce the damage mobs take from my own damage shield?

You mean to tell me that's really a Shaman spell and not a Druid spell that was mis-coded as being for Shaman? And to top it off, it's broken? WTF? O.o

On the other hand, maybe it's working as intended. After all, the spell is listed in the stickied SoF spell topic as "Thorn Wilting (Damage shield blocker)".

Dropping your damage shield from 50 to 15 sure does sound like a damage shield blocker.

The Kumbaja entry for lists it as a beneficial spell with the following description "Blocks the effects of damage shield on your target."

Sounds like it is working similar to Slot 1 of the Cleric-Spell .
Something like "Slot 1: Decrease Damage Shield to 15 points of damage"
So its an detrimental Spell to cast on the Mobs?

Yesterday I tried it at Ghost, Guardian of Razorthorn.
Couldn't land it on Ghost (atleast no Message and no change in DS). Meeles in my Group didn't notice any Benefits with the Buff on.
In it's actual states I can't find any use of it.

On that event -- can't remember what it's called -- where it is important that adds take no damage whatsoever, our Raid Leader has always insisted that everyone physically click off every damage shield icon.

I can't imagine him saying, "Oh, this is convenient, shamans cast that damage shield blocking spell on everyone."

I'd argue with that list, because half of it I could care less about.

Examples:

1) Upgrade to Malis (more debuff, or add in disease)
Sure, why not.. except then mages would bitch.
2) Upgrade to Champion (more stats, more attack, more damage)
Sure, why not.. except then rangers would bitch.
3) Upgrade to Haste (longer duration, bigger %, some 2ndary effects)
Sure, why not.. except then chanters would bitch. (not that they don't do that enough as it is)
4) Upgrade to AC Buff (more ac)
Sure.. but when is the last time you actually used YOUR ac buff? I haven't used mine since the 30s.
5) Upgrade to Poison Rain spell (more damage, resist modifier)
I don't even have Antraygus, so this is pointless to me.
6) Upgrade to (PR-DR-Corruption) Resist Buff
I'll give you this one, but the one we haven't isn't too bad.
7) Upgrade to Talsiman of Foresight (bigger %)
Why? Half the time I don't even bother casting it cause people block it or click it off unless we're just grouping.
Cool Upgrade to Fulkitchers Weave (lasts longer, blocks more, quicker reuse)
I didn't even know this spell existed. What's the point of upgrading a spell no one uses?
9) Upgrade to putrid decay (pr+dr debuff)
Sure, why not.. except then necros would bitch.
10) Upgrade to root line of spells
We got VP, wtf more you want?
11) Single target version of Talisman of Puma
NO. Group is more than enough. F single target short duration buffs.
12) Upgrade to Charisma Bugg (overcap)
Whyyyyyy?
13) Upgrade the see invisible spells (shaman have ALWAYS had the best see invis spells in the game)
I'd like to see a faerune+movement spell.
14) Upgrade to Remove Greater Curse
I'll agree.
15) Upgrade to Poison/Disease Cure
Upgrade to Blood of Nadox would be nice.
16) Upgrade to the Cripple line
Just like haste..

I forgot we even had those worthless things.

Less bitching, more thinking. I'm all for the ideas of new spell lines, but make them lines we can use more than once. Thorn wilting is a good idea, but I still feel like it's better suited for druids than shaman.

- Combining disease would be great - only need to mem 1 unresistable debuff. Only down side I guess is that stacking issues may cause it to be over-written by mage debuff spells that don't have the disease component.

2) Upgrade to Champion (more stats, more attack, more damage)
- Agreed, this is one of our core melee-support lines now

3) Upgrade to Haste (longer duration, bigger %, some 2ndary effects)
- With haste caps I don't think a bigger % would have any effect, and we get the secondary effects on Champion and Mammoth.

4) Upgrade to AC Buff (more ac)
- Definitely

5) Upgrade to Poison Rain spell (more damage, resist modifier)
- Not a spell I use very often myself, but it is a core line so should have received an upgrade

6) Upgrade to (PR-DR-Corruption) Resist Buff
- Standard upgrade

7) Upgrade to Talsiman of Foresight (bigger %)
- Standard upgrade of core line, definitely.

Upgrade to Fulkitchers Weave (lasts longer, blocks more, quicker reuse)
- Depends how much corruption esist is used in SoF. At the moment this spell is only applicable to certain TSS/TBS raids, unless there is SoF content that uses corruption resist then maybe not much argument for an upgrade.

9) Upgrade to putrid decay (pr+dr debuff)
- Ideally combo with malis upgrade as said before.

10) Upgrade to root line of spells
- Meh, with VP and root-clickies, would there be a big demand for this?

11) Single target version of Talisman of Puma
- Useful for completeness and mana efficency when you only have 1 or 2 people meleeing

12) Upgrade to Charisma Bugg (overcap)
- Does over-cap charisma do anything? I know heroic charisma affects faction hits.

13) Upgrade the see invisible spells (shaman have ALWAYS had the best see invis spells in the game)
- Assume you mean to see rk2-invis

14) Upgrade to Remove Greater Curse
- Might be issues over the number of curse counters removed. If RGC-Upgrade removes less than 50 counters (which would be a biug jump up from 36), then I think there are fairly few effects that would require 2xRGC but only 1xRGC-Upgrade.

15) Upgrade to Poison/Disease Cure
- Blood of Nadox needs an upgrade after so long, even if it is just a faster cast-time. Cast time on Nadox stinks.

16) Upgrade to the Cripple line
- Get rid of that feralisis junk, Cripple is a core Shammy-Chanter shared line and should be maintained as such.

17) Upgrade to the Berserker line of spells
- I couldn't agree more, this line has been kinda forgotten. I almost always have this buff up unless I can find a ranger to give me GotE.
