Hot Key Setup

I've seen spell setups but I haven't seen hot key setups and was curious if it would be helpful to start a post to list how different Shaman have different hot keys set up.

I am in an "end game" guild and find that mouse targeting and mouse clicking can just be too slow even if you have zero lag. Recently I moved a lot of my hot keys to my Num Pad to help speed up my healing because of a Druid *wink* who post theirs on the guild site. Anyway, having a great deal of my hot keys on my Num Pad keeps my hand from having to move from the mouse to key board. When mobs are hitting for 3k-5k and you are the only healer in he group every mil second counts between saving that 2k+ dps hitter and losing him/her/it.

I know my hot key set up is not the best but this is what I have:

my big heal Numpad "0" Which is spell gem 3
Group member2 Numpad "1"
Group member3 NumPad "2"
Group member4 Numpad "3"
Group member5&6 are "4" and "5" and I am "6"

I realize this is a bit off but I went off visual on the screen instead of following f2, f3, f4 and so forth and my advice to some one else is go with what feels best with you. The idea is to not have to move your hand at all and not have to take your eyes off the screen.

Assist Numpad "del" (or decimal)
HoT Numpad "Enter" Which is spell gem 4
Group heal Numpad "+" Which is spell gem 5
Group Panther "Insert" <(~~ this key is not on the Numpad but is in a different location on every keyboard. On my keyboard it is the closest key to the keyboard.

Right click heal ring Numpad "7"
Cycle targets is Numpad "8"
RC cure is Numpad "9"
My canni is on 1 and alt 1 for AA and spell since alt 1 was was back in the day when canni dance was in fasion.
Movement keys are w,a,d,s for up, left, right, and back,
Attack is q and duck is e.

This allows me to keep both hands on the key board and still be able to preform all the task I need to do.

I use this mainly for raiding and go back to mouse target for soloing and for grouping (depending on the group make up and difficulty of the camp.

My normal raid group make up is me, Bard, melee dps, melee dps, melee dps....<(~~Zerker some where in there. I assume many other "end game" Shaman have similar raid group makeups and I wonder what type of group make ups that Shaman are put in that are not "end game".

Lastly, I do not use a programmable keyboard.

Thoughts/suggestions??

As a recent returnee to EQ (yesterday!) I was looking for some keyboard set up suggestions, as everytime I tried to turn right last night I'd duck!!! Of course I changed WASD to my movement keys after I realized I wouldnt be able to kick the habit of using those to move, and changed my cycle NPC targets to TAB. That was pretty much all I changed, but I think I may try a numpad set up similiar to yours to keep from having to mouse to cast/target.

I havent done serious raiding in years (do join a raid here and there now) but i have been using mostly the same setup since when i used to be a full on raider. It mostly is based upon the base setup that EQ comes with, my hands got trained that way when i started so it works for me now.

The only thing i use my mouse for is inventory work, if you ask me the mouse is a waste of a hand in EQ.

I only use the one orginal hotkey bar, i have a few others floating around that i click with my mouse. One is for switching some gear around (inventory work) and the other to bandolier TA out for my epic.

My hotkeys are:
1) Assist MA
2) /assist
3) /book
4) click pants, left over from Ornate pants and i switchthose pants in sometimes. I have been debating puting something new here but just not needed
5) cast gem 5
6) VP
7) pet attack
click primary weapon, normaly TA
9) /pet hold
10) click invis mask

I cast my spells all using Alt+# aside from number 5 which is just hotkey 5. It works well for me.

I have about 4 hotkey bars that i use regulary, switching using shift 1 - 4. Going off memory the stuff that is on the bars, and its mostly automatic hand reactions to cast now, is all my remaining AAs, AA canni, RC, Ancestral Aid, Union of spirits, Spirtual channeling, Spirit call etc etc. I just know where they all are and am quite fast.

I do targeting using /assist hotkey #2, using target NPC (F8), Cycle NPC (Shift+F8), Target PC (F7), Cycle PC (shift F7). I still target group members using there F#. My previous target button is the tilda and the switch between my target and myself is tab.

Auto run is e, duck is m, auto attack is q. Movement is WASD. and well i can do everything.

I have all 10 spell sets being used. I have 1 that is my base spells, malos, slow, direct heal, HoT, Canni. those never change. then i can with one key mem Group HoT, sting, focus, panther, MD (for CC w/ VP), juju, nectar, champ and focus. Those are the spells i use the most, they mem to there common spot and i i only have to open my book when i need other spells, whichisnt all the time. To mem the other spells i either use the drop down menu from the spell gem or my handy dandy /book commands which are left over from times before drop down menus. I have 3 different categorys of spells, utility, damage, buffs. and when i click the correct hotkey it opens to a page in my book and i have access to all my buffs, or all my damage spells, or the rest. I can get to about 90% of the spells i use this way and the rest i use drop down menus.

So thats how i play my shaman, defintly not the most effecient but its how i have been doing it forever andit works for me.
