I know that Nectar of Pain is shaman only DoT w/ the resist mod built in, and I betcha that the Devs got pretty good positive feedback from the shaman community. Well, I thought they would get a clue when developing new shaman spells for TSS. Intead, they've decided to give zero resist to all the new rank 1 spells. I mean, come on, I betcha that even w/ -30 resist for our new dots, we would still be happier than zero. Even at -30 resist, we're are still far behind on necros debuffs. Necros have around -50 built in resist starting rank 1 of most of their poison and disease DoTs, adding -61 poison and disease debuffs from their new scent line and they're out-debuffing shaman, making their DoTs landing much easier. With a -200 disease check on scent line, necros debuff is almost unresistable, making them comparible to shaman malos line in most situations. May be the Devs want us to spend more moola on another expansion after TSS that finally has a built resist for shaman's DoT. <Insert sarcasm here>

Oh btw, the new scent line from necro not only debuff 61 poison and disease, it also has +3% increase in spell dmg w/ a -200 disease resist check for only 250mana. Hmm, lets see bout shaman, first we to cast Malis to get -66pr,mg,cld,fire unresistible for 700mana. Only then can we cast Malosinise for -76pr,fire,cold, mg (which doesn't stack w/ malis) and +3% increase in spell damage WITH ZERO resist check for 360mana. Conclusion? Necros can cast scent of Twilight once and then see there Dps shot to the roof when following by dots. Shaman has to waste time and 4x the mana to obtain the result (provide that the mob not already dead before shman able to land their dot)

And we feel your pain. There's already been an on this, and Samanna has couched it to the Devs. Obviously it hasn't borne fruit yet, but that's not to say that it won't still.

I think the new DoT's are a great addition to our line up. I do however think that its silly that all of our DoT's are so closely similar to necros, yet we're stuck with no/next to none resist mod. But this has been brought up so many times, its hard to believe that the Dev's hasn't read it, and discussed it....for whatever reason, we're seemingly screwed in this category.

Parn, you keep mentioning the necro scent debuff almost as if it is just them that get this. Putrid Decay is -55 to both poison and disease... for poison, combined with the -72 from Malis, or -78 from Malosinise, which is what it will be on raids, you're looking at -133 for poison, but really since Rank3 DOTS have a -30 check, that's -163 poison debuffed. That's pretty much way stronger than it has ever been. Not to mention that we got a group panther. And a 3k base nuke with a 0.5s cast time and a -30 resist check.

For "just" a core spell line upgrade, that's pretty damn solid. And considering Nectar of Pain is a reverse splurt type DOT, it gets stronger with both poison focus and duration focus. In a group fast grind, I'm using NoP, Yoppa's rain, and Sting to pretty good effect. But the real test is gonna be trying to land our DOTs on raids when we can. Stronger debuffs thru Malis/sinise coupled with built-in resists should prove to be somewhat more reliable than before. We'll see.

I wish the druid community was made up of people who though like members of the shaman community.

Druids: Overpowered class of 2001-2003 -> nerfed -> people intially angry -> people in nerf denial -> people who talk about how great our underpowered class is -> devs see no reason to add improvements so they do not.

Shamans: (censored) Edit: Samanna should become a druid!

PS: Necros are the most overrated class in EQ. How can I put this... Necro DPS is like panda sex - there so many factors that need to be just right for it be succesful. In other words, necros have the least flexiable DPS tools of any dps-centric class in EQ.
