Testing it on a rogue friend of mine, we found the same (in the event that the change wasn't enough to show an increase in damage for dogdog.)
As far as the purpose...good question, especially being that Druids get the exact same buff, and mages get a pet buff with the same effect on it too (and possibly the other pet classes too, not sure on that), so we don't even need to cast it on them.

See, now a spell that increases proc rates (and works along with panther) would be an awesome way of upgrading Panther slightly for those who wish to devote more mana/time to the spell

I'm too lazy to test it out myself, but from what I understand it's possible that it's class dependent. Rogues and rangers SWEAR to me that they stack and even when they have champ, they say might helps them hit for a higher max. Do they know what they're talking about? Maybe not. But for shaman/shaman pets/bards maybe there could be some +dmg% cap maybe? Other classes might have a higher innate %dmg cap. Something for the less-lazy-than-me to test maybe.

I think that those questioning the use of might may want to consider one other possible use. If you don't have champion yet, might is an easy way for you to add 5 percent. It makes a nice companion for ferrine avatar. Also, even if you did have champion, its unlikely you would cast it on your entire raid -- so 5 percent on the entire raid, and 10 percent on your group is better than 0 percent on your entire raid and 10 ercent on your group.
Perhaps not the most useful spell (talisman of might) but certainly alot more useful than some of our older spells like, for example, our dexterity buffs. Or our endurance buffs which no longer do anything at all. Or any of a dozen other spells I could think of that are very, very, very situational.
