There's a new kid in town. And with his fancy new root, he impresses the DE women better than shaman anymore.



Okay, forget the fact that his knockback root is Chromatic -30, which is far better than our VP's -30 disease check.

The thing that gets me is that his is a 3 second cast, with a 6(!) second recast. Since it lasts for a minute, he can easily keep multiple mobs parked.

Which is exactly what happened last nite. Our guild is one trial short of Anguish, so everyone's in a signet feeding frenzy. During a gruesome 6 hour grind in the RCoD Sewers, we were chain pulling murks passing time between the 21 minute re-pops of A Cunning Dragorn. When our pet-pulling beastlord wanted to take a break, the ranger took over pulls. He'd occasionally get 4 or 5, and I saw him in action keeping a few of those locked down with Elddar's Grasp. It was amazing. And I thought shaman put chanters out of a job with our being able to keep ONE add locked down with VP.

Sure, I've spammed root click pants to some success and somewhat controlled a crisis multi-pull. But root broke too often, and mostly only delayed the inevitable. I certainly didn't come close to the handiwork this ranger was doing last nite. And he just got the spell a week ago. I imagine EG will let rangers pull more effectively overall, especially indoors, but it sure makes VP yesterday's news.

This rant is like nine months too late. Druids got with DoD. =P

And you want to know the best part? A lot of Rangers hate Elddar's Grasp. They loathe it. The recast drives them up the wall. And they can't debuff for it.

Also, Elddar's grasp has a knockback of a whopping big -4-. Come on guys. That's half of the knockback on VP1. That's so small I bet there are a ton of rangers out there that don't even know there IS a knockback. If you can do the job with Elddar's grasp, odds are you could have done it easier and cheaper with which casts faster, and has no recast. Certainly, if I were a ranger doing CC in an RCoD instance, that's what I'd use. Stuff in there isn't real magic resistant.

Rangers have been badass at root-based CC for ages. This doesn't change much.

Chromatic means it lands on everything pre-debuffs pretty much, which owns. Try VP on hanvar.. bet you it'll resist (putrid decay does at -200 check) but poision dots at 0 resist check lands every time..

OMG this spell is so freaking annoying my hunnie has it on his ranger and OMG it's fun to use to screw around with people's heads but root doesnt even last that long and the mobs knockback is way horrible.
