This was originally posted to the Crucible in 2003 by Nytmare. Some changes since then (innate pet dual wield) but hey, we're still using SLTW for our best haste!
Used EQ Companion to parse doggy damage vs evil cliff golems today.

Pet Damage Per Second; Swings Per Second; average hit amount -- buffs
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
12.7 DPS; 0.65 SPS; 36.1 ave hit -- base unbuffed
22.9 DPS; 1.04 SPS; 37.9 ave hit -- SLTW
33.5 DPS; 1.59 SPS; 37.4 ave hit -- SLTW + dual wield (two rusty weapons)
38.0 DPS; 1.63 SPS; 40.8 ave hit -- SLTW + dual wield + Maniacal Str
37.3 DPS; 1.62 SPS; 41.2 ave hit -- SLTW + dual wield + Focus of Soul
42.9 DPS; 1.56 SPS; 47.4 ave hit -- SLTW + dual wield + Focus of Soul + Ferine Avatar
Conclusions:
SLTW = 1.60 haste (60%) as advertised
dual wield = essentially 1.54x haste
total haste = 2.46 (146%)
STR or Focus increases the average hit amount significantly
So does Avatar
I would put the margin of error at +/- 1 or 2 DPS (i.e. less than 2 DPS difference, don't worry about it). I have a lot of other samples I haven't posted yet, and the numbers are fairly consistent.
Radag
Maniacal Str adds 4.5 DPS for 8640 sec / 150 mana = 259.2 dam / mana
Focus of the Soul 3.8 DPS for 4800 sec / 600 mana = 30.4 dam / mana
Ferine Avatar 5.6 DPS for 390 sec / 350 mana = 6.24 dam / mana
Clearly, this is assuming base spell duration and mana expenditure and constant combat. Ferine Avatar has a mana efficiency that is comparable to BoU and I normally consider it as such. I also use Focus of Soul over Maniacal Str for the added HP on the pet but after reviewing this I might not do that after a spawn is broken and FoS needs refreshing.
