AA advice for a 52 Shaman

Totally. For the newer Shaman, I'd say all REG XP to somewhere safely into 62, then all AA XP through Cani5, VP1, RC1, and the 9th spell gem (possibly Run5), then all REG XP until safely into 70. For all of the above reasons.

I do not have SCM at all, and have been looking into it as a possiblity for my next set of AAs (then comes this discussion). Does SCM3, with only a +30% chance to triggering your 10% savings, make the chance for savings 100% or is it a lot lower than that? It seems with the description, it should be less than 100%, because isn't the chance from just straight spec only 25 or 50% (I'm unsure but I'm guessing it isn't 70%). However the above posts are making it seem as if it's 100%... which would make me go after this ability sooner than i had been planning.

I would also like to know, if this skill will effect the skill brought to 100 through Secondary Forte (which I also don't have yet...)

There's no "chances" or "rolls" with Spell Casting Mastery. It's a flat 10% mana savings on every spell you ever cast, every time, for as long as you remain a shaman.

SCM3 rocks.... (as already explained).

My advice on the AAs depends a lot on what you do in EQ.

If you are in a raiding guild and they expect you to raid in a few levels time, it might be wise to get some of the archetype abilities (that are damn useful) that improve your shaman all round. MGB is probably the single most raid friendly ability if your guild does not have a lot of active shamans, and Cannibalization and SCM3 work wonders in your mana efficiency. The difference before and after these is huge.

If you are not under pressure to raid, I would definitely hit level 60 before doing any AAs whatsoever, but i would not wait as long as 70, for the simple reason that if you are a level 70 shaman, and are invited into a level 70 group, they are going to expect you to have a certain amount of AAs (for example some defensive AAs) which are used a lot in the endgame.

If your groups are always with the same people, or you are a soloer/boxer, then you can probably go straight to level 70 without worrying.

People may expect you to have some aa, but they won't group with you at all if you're not 70. When I'm making groups (admittedly they already have a shaman, but for other classes..) I do /w all 70 lfg. This has come up before. There is no /w all "lots of aa" lfg, or /w all "skillz like jesus" lfg. The only thing that people can see when they're making groups is your level, your class, your name, and your guildtag. That's it.
