Sloth+DA is a killer preslow trick. Send a Slothed pally in and let it proc for a bit before MT follows. Or another popular trick, which I use a lot on wave 32 of the Arena Badge quest: Sloth+DA pally, let mobs hit away for the duration of the DA and then start kiting. Gives some initial agro. Could work for other classes as well with some form of avoiding hits.
Being a sissy paladin, I always demand Sloth from the Shammies. It's good enough for taking the edge off hasted mobs until real slow lands, it slows large bunches of low-level mobs with me getting agro instead of the shaman, and it makes tanking multiple mobs a whole friggin lot easier. Not sure exactly what the agro of sloth is, but I can clearly tell the difference when I end up in a group with no shaman.
Sloth is also nice in situations like Anguish clearings where there's lots of trash mobs that die in 15 seconds or less and may come like 4 at a time.
