Iksar Illusion for all

Postby riou » Sat Oct 25, 2008 1:02 pm

Quest starts with Phara Dar, get the main quest "The Grand Illusion", after you get it say, skull, hand, foot, ribcage, this will give you 4 mini tasks that update main task,

Skull, the skull comes from Commander Koth in Field of Bone(Kunark version NOT SoD) around kaesora area, hits ~2500, has 250k hp, dblue con to 83, stunnable, http://lucy.allakhazam.com/item.html?id=17289 is the item you're looking for, after you loot it turn it into phara dar

Hand, the hand you have to talk to the shade first (is on mapfiend map, its to the left-ish of the dragons), after that you go to the kaesora area in field of scale, and you should see, thoruxs bones or something like that, you have to clear the entire building, and the 4 guards outside Ganaks building, open the pile and loot this http://lucy.allakhazam.com/item.html?id=40407 , then turn it into phara dar

foot, around that same kaesora area in field of scale is two iksar master monks, you must knock each down to about 20% hp and they fd, at this time you loot the masters bone pile they were by, for this, http://lucy.allakhazam.com/item.html?id=37764

Ribcage drops off any live iksar in zone, http://lucy.allakhazam.com/item.html?id=17381 , after you have that you hand it into phara dar, then /say ribcage, to talendor, then hand ribcage into him, after that you have to get a sebilisian fire which drop from alchemists east of kurns tower in field of scale, turn the fire into talendor, then you have to get some viscid tar which drop from the undead, after get that turn it into talendor, then at 10 pm - 2 am game time a fire elemental will be up on the island in north east part of zone, get update by running to his middle, then after that step updates trade him it, then give the final ribcage to phara dar

after all thats done you hail phara dar a final time and get, http://lucy.allakhazam.com/item.html?id=80061

This makes you non-kos to everything in all field of scales (outside of animals), its also illusion: iksar works in all zones. it makes questing in field of scale TONS easier to have

If you know someone finished with task you can actually have them open the Foot (by monk) and Hand (the shade one) while in iksar illusion clicky from this task, and not have to kill anything on those parts.

Commander Koth is on a 20min respawn, and it does not flag your group when the skull is looted. If you have several people doing this part you should plan on being there for a while, or try and fit in his kills with other parts of the quest.
I'm ok, how are you?

Here is my take on the quest after completing it. I wanted to give my experiance with the quest, and would like to thank Riou for his great contribution of information. Without his info none of this would have happened. My group consisted of Two shaman, a paladin, a rogue, a ranger, and a warrior with a level range of 81-83. Most of the quest can be done without much trouble, and only a couple parts require you to kill quickly to avoid respawns. Group gear mostly consists of SoF quested armor, and PoR tradeskilled armor. The quest is a long one, and will take most a couple of days to complete.

Like Riou mentioned, you must speak with Phara Dar and receive the quest "The Grand Illusion". There is no faction required for starting this quest, and it is broken down into four subquests. Once you have the quest speak with Phara Dar about a "Skull", "Hand", "Foot", and "Ribcage".

Skull:

Commander Koth drops the skull you need. He is found in Field of Bone, Kunark version, and roams around the Kaesora area on the map. He is indifferent, and cons dark blue to level 82. He is slowable, and does not rampage or enrage. He will also start running at low health. Nothing fancy about the fight, and is a straight tank and kill. He is on a 20min respawn, and only drops one skull per kill. This does not flag the entire group so you need to plan on being there for a while if you have several people working on the quest. Once you have looted the skull take it to Phara Dar for the quest update.

Recap:
-Speak with Phara Dar about a "skull"
-Find Commander Koth in the Kaesora area of Field of Bone, not Scale
-Loot skull from Commander Koth's corpse
-Return the skull to Phara Dar

Hand:

The first thing you must do is to talk to the shade located NW of Phara Dar in Field of Scale. He is located in a tower surrounded by undead on one side, and a couple of aggressive iksars inside the tower with him. You can invis to the North side of the tower and wait for the shade to roam to the door. Once he is in range speak with him for your update. Once you are done, head toward the Kaesora area in Field of Scale to start the next part of the quest. The building in question is along the back wall, NW, and is a single story structure.

There are two guards on the back side of the building, and at least ten mobs inside. The bone pile you need to loot is located in the middle of the room. You have to clear both guards on the back side of the building and all the mobs inside the building before the pile will open. It is not required to kill the two guards on the front side of the building, as we got the pile to open without doing so. You will need some good dps to burn the mobs down in order to avoid respawns. Each pile only contains a single hand so plan accordingly for this much like the Commander fight. If the bone pile pops while you are keeping the building clear, just pull the mobs out and have someone go in and loot while it is clear. The mobs just have to be outside of the building. Once you have looted the hand take it back to Phara Dar for your update.

Recap:
-Speak with Phara Dar about a "Hand"
-Speak with the Shade NW of Phara Dar
-Clear the building in the NW corner of the Kaesora area of Field of Scale
-Loot the hand from the bone pile in the center of the building
-Return hand to Phara Dar

Foot:

In the center of the Kaesora area there are four pillars with two Iksar Masters guarding a single bone pile. These monks are indifferent, and it is best to set up camp just behind them against the wall of the adjacent building, West side of the monks. These mobs cannot be rooted or snared, so expect to tank two at a time. They are yellow to level 82. They hit fairly hard and fast so it's best to have them slowed as quickly as possible if able. This is another straight tank and dps mob so assist the tank and burn them down one at a time. The kicker is that at 20% the monks will feign death, so when this happens switch to the next monk. After both are down have someone go and loot the foot from the pile. The monks will reset after about 2mins after they feign death, and the bone pile is on a 7'ish minute respawn. Just rince and repeat till everyone has looted the foot bone. Once everyone has a foot return to Phara Dar for the update.

Recap:
-Speak with Phara Dar about a "Foot"
-Head to the center of the Kaesora area where you will find two Iksar Masters
-Take each monk to 20% where they will then feign death
-Loot a foot from the bone pile
-Return foot to Phara Dar

Ribcage:

This subquest, like the skull subquest, takes a while to complete, and mostly requires getting drops from various mobs. Everyone in the group will need to collect the items to update their quest log. The first item you are required to obtain is an Iksar Ribcage. These drop off any iksar in the zone, whether alive or dead. You can obtain this while working on the hand bone since you will be clearing a large amount of iksars in the process. It is a fairly common drop, but can have periods of rarity. Once you have obtained the ribcage return it to Phara Dar. Phara Dar will then give you the ribcage back, and sends you to talk to Talendor.

Talendor is located just West of Phara Dar. Hand Talendor the Iksar Ribcage. He will then tell you to bring him a Sebilisian Fire, which drops from the Iksar Alchemists around Kurn's Tower. You can set up camp to the west of the tower just north of two static alchemist spawns. There is a roaming iksar patroller in the area so be aware. There are six alchemists located on the west side of the tower, and are in groups of two. The Sebilisian Fire is a fairly common drop, but again it can have its moments of rarity. Once you have collected the fire, head back to Talendor for the turn in.

Talendor will then tell you to collect some Viscid Tar from the undead in the zone. A safe camp to set up for this is near the Emerald Jungle zone in; although, there are many places to hunt undead this is just where my group set up. The undead are in groups of at least three so you will need a puller of some sort or at least some form of crowd control. From this spot you can also pull the skeletons located just inside the Kaesora area. Just like the other two items the Viscid Tar is a fairly common to uncommon drop. After you have looted the Tar, return to Talendor for the turn in.

Talendor will then give you a ribcage, and instructs you to find a fire elemental. The elemental is located on an island in the NE corner of the map, and spawns at 10:00 P.M. game time. You update the next step by approaching the elemental, and then by giving him the ribcage. He will then give you an updated ribcage in return. Take the final ribcage back to Phara Dar for the completion of the quest. In order to receive the illusion mask you will need to hail Phara Dar once more after completing the quest.

Recap:
-Speak with Phara Dar about a "Ribcage"
-Loot an Iksar Ribcage from any iksar, alive or undead, in Field of Scale
-Return Iksar Ribcage to Phara Dar
-Speak with Talendor, located west of Phara Dar, and hand him the Iksar Ribcage
-Loot a Sebilisian Fire from an Iksar Alchemist, located to the west of Kurns Tower
-Return Sebilisian Fire to Talendor
-Loot Viscid Tar from any undead in Field of Scale
-Return Viscid Tar to Talendor
-Receive ribcage from Talendor and give to Fire Elemental in NE corner of zone at 10:00 P.M. game time
-Take updated ribcage to Phara Dar to complete quest
-Hail Phara Dar once again to receive your mask

Nice write up! Thanks!

Had a question though on one part

These mobs cannot be rooted or snared, so expect to tank two at a time. They are yellow to level 82. They hit fairly hard and fast so it's best to have them slowed as quickly as possible if able. This is another straight tank and dps mob so assist the tank and burn them down one at a time. The kicker is that at 20% the monks will feign death, so when this happens switch to the next monk. After both are down have someone go and loot the foot from the pile. The monks will reset after about 2mins after they feign death, and the bone pile is on a 7'ish minute respawn.

Can they be kited, or are they leashed to the area? Was thinking of kiting them away, then looting the bones on another box while they are running about.
Ride free brother.

We would have someone without hte quest open the bones (for some reason if you had the quest you couldn't open them). Then that same person would kite away the monks. Then the person who had hte quest would loot the bones and reinvis. The kiter was usually a monk and would fd at that point, or me and I would zone into kaesora.

Same with the hand thing.

Yeah, we didn't try kiting them away since we were prepared to just fight them. There are mobs around this area so you would just have to be careful about where you ran them to.

I solod the 2 of them trivially. Just pre target them both so you can use toggle last 2 targets key.
pull 1 with malos from maximum range, use MaloAA on other as they run towards you.
they have normal run speed, so you can alternate dots on both of them getting them both down.

Kite,
poison dot 1,
swap to other mob,
kite some more,
poison dot 1
swap back to first mob.
repeat the above with poison dot2,
repeat the above with poison dot3.

repeat the whole thing until both hit 25% and FD.

trivial. took about 5 mins, I took no damage.

yeh, the whole task is pretty simple really.

After you have the illusion mask, i highly recommend re-doing the hand and the foot as much as you can (6 hour lockout). It takes about five minutes max. You have to open the bones before you get the task, then run and get the tasks, update with the shade of taroff, then run back to the bones and loot them. Easy peasy and with illusion on you won't get any aggro.
I started doing this at lvl 84, and every time i had four saved up, i would get the rewards when i burned my lesson. That yielded 11% of regular exp each time. well worth it!
