Did anyone else notice they are giving us? I'm not sure I would ever give up a shield to wield it. At least they seem to back to giving us spears.

Zonewide rare. Don't sweat camping it, the boomerang spear is a big win for shm. Sympathetic Alleviation is sooo good, Sympathetic Calming sooo not-good.

Can you explain the difference between sympathetic alliviation and sympathetic calming? And why is one better than the other?

No, not for wizards. Unreliable small agro mitigation is trash compared to more mana that they can convert at something like 20:1 to more damage.
