I would have to say that I'm a bit disappointed with it. I'm not sure about you other high raiding end shaman but I am far from maxed out on avoidance (140 at least count) and regen for me does nothing.

I don't think that the specialize:alteration effects stack, so if you have the anguish helm, than it is worthless for you.

After that, how many times would you expect to use hungry plague in a setting? I honestly can't think of a raid yet where I've had to use it (hive queen might work, but honestly, VS is a lot better method there, as is using sloth).

So, that basically leaves hps and resists... not very appealing to me, although my ears are my worst piece of equipment (WTB poison upgrade focus that is as good as discordant poison on dots and DDs) and I'll prob get the first one or so that drops in my car.

The focus and special mods are rather pointless. Focus effect to extend a spell i could care less about but should be covered by general focus's on anguish armor and some non caster stats. Avoidance is nice but common enough and regen is really rather pointless. Over 10k hps easily and 6 hps a tick doesn't do anything.

We saw that link tonight while messing about in Demi Plane. Of the 4 fully active shammies there the universal reaction was blech none of us bother with Hungry Plague as it takes an eternity to load and has a useless recast. Also we have detrimental extension foci elsewhere. We would all like the HP/avoid/mana, but none of us would want to spent any DKP on that.

If we get one to drop it will definately rot in our Guild.

So far it seems none of the class item focis have any big use other than (probably) nice stats.

Necro class item from Blood has 25% mana preservation for our newest DoD dot. Does SoE know Affliction Efficiency V is 25% mana preservation for ALL dots and can be tributed?

Screw stats. Screw points systems. All items from Demiplane have stats, and loot distribution systems aren't a concern of loot power balance. As a, and probably the only, shaman only item, it should have some sort of particular appeal to the shaman class, and it doesn't. The focus may as well be nonexistent, it's so narrow and underpowered. FFS (that means For "Fork"'s Sake), that focus is strictly worse in all possible ways than Bane of the Dragorn on Facade of Fright (single group content) and Wristband of Chaotic Essence (three expansions old)!

Hell, the stats aren't even that good. Compare to from the same zone. It has the same level of ac/hp/mana/resists, but with a whole boatload of desirable mods!

Congrats on inflating your hp/mana some, but honestly, here. The earring is not what it should be.

Well, every shaman who wants their items to be good cares, to be specific.

How about relative to the other caster ear that has dropped in Demiplane ? Or relative to the other class-only item that has dropped in Demiplane? Both just from the first two encounters. The focus on the monk idol is really really good for them. +Stats are generic, Xora, they have to do only with context. The harder the raid the more hp items have when they drop. That doesn't qualify an item as good. No possible version of shaman-only item from Demiplane would be low hp/mana, but it could still be good or bad based on whether or not it adds any power to the character wearing it.

Not quite to this drop yet but hopefully not far -- and when we do see this, I have very little incentive to go in for it. You're welcome to look at my Magelo, as Xoralundrax asks in his post. I'm not topnotch but am solidly geared.

I have the Anguish hat so have the specialization mod already. My hp regen is long since maxed but for some aa's. Avoidance isn't quite maxed but it's pretty darn high. The limited spell focus for a very limited use spell isn't terribly useful. Resists are identical (totalled) to the Tacvi ear I'd consider replacing. So, the only things to recommend it to me is an incremental upgrade in avoidance, AC and hp.

In addition, my guild uses a point in = point out system, where items cost points based on a formula roughly determined by hp/end/mana, ft and regen; someone winning an item pays those points which are then distributed to all attendees of that raid (little more complicated but that's the basics). The only discounts are rot/clicky price (if you have better already and nobody else wants) or bot price. This means I pay one heck of a lot of points for what boils down to a rather small upgrade.

Xoralundrax basically says, 'this must be valuable because someone looted it and is happy!' I was curious and went to look at EQRankings. I couldn't get to Lucciel's Magelo -- came up blank -- but according to the EQRankings listing, he is considerably lower geared than the other shaman showing as in his guild. No disrespect to Lucciel at all -- we've all gone through the gearing up phase -- but a being passed over by the mainstream raiders (checked their Magelos, that ear is not on them) and looted by someone gearing up, is not exactly a sign of a hot and desirable item. I am glad that he obtained an item that is useful to him and that he is happy. It is not a bad ear. However, for an end-game and class-specific item, it takes very poor account of the typical equipment of the shaman likely to be seeing it drop. At this time, it is most likely an item to gear up recently guilded shaman, or a bot item.

They weren't upgrades, dsavereide. That's the point. The points system we use is certainly flexible, since it's, you know, ours. We can do whatever we want to it. But pricing is irrelevant here except as a way to compare things. Is it acceptible to you that your loot is just plain worse, if you pay less for it? We're talking about the class-only item from the end game of the most recent expansion. Spear of Fate, Umbracite Swarm Orb, Time's Antithesis, Zun'Muram's Spear of Doom, Blessed Spiritstaff of the Heyokah, Mark of the Brood Warden are it's predecessors. This item doesn't live up at all.
