The Spirit Realm

In 2000 (heh, I started late):

I remember the Orc Hill.
I remember banded being 5pp per 1AC.
I remember how annoying Splitpaw was.
I remember how long the boat rides were, and the things people would do to entertain themselves on them.
I remember when race actually played a major point in how you moved around the world.
I remember being blind in my snowy hometown and finding the tunnels that lead to Qeynos.
I remember frequent patches and patch notes that actually described everything they did.
I remember the servers being powered by interns (they couldn't afford gerbils at the time and those interns didn't last all that long).

I miss the green mist in the karanas, and the swarm =(

That wasn't until Luclin, it was part of the PoP release events.

Brohg, the Karana Green Mist was all a part of the Qenyos Investigator badge series of events.

I remember the goblin camps in butcherblock.
I remember saving up to 10pp to buy a spell (took several hours of killing xp mobs).
I remember my guild wiping in PoFear, being rescued by uber guild 1 that wiped in fear, being rescued by uber guild 2 which wiped. Finally a GM took pity on us all and saved the day.. Therefore I remember GM's actually helping.
I remember the first time i got a 96% rezz. I thought the cleric was a gm or using a hack
I remember camping trainer hill in crush.
I remember the little dorf in crushbone going on a rampage and killing everyone in zone (multiple times).
I remember crawling through ToV to get to PoM.
I remember doing the dragon run in ToV where the bet was if I could make it past all dragons to the spawn of Vulak` Aerr as a lvl 60 necro. I almost made it.
I remember killing lord Nagafen with a full raid force.
I remember the aviak village in karana.

But most of all I remember playing my necro in karana and getting the random tell: 'Yo dude. SoW me'. from someone who was at the complete opposite of the zone. It took several minutes to get my then newest best 'friend' to understand that I was A) not able to cast it and B) if I could he had more chance that his toons would sprout wings and fly after his polite request and C) he was a *smurf* lvl 30 ranger who was more then capable of doing it himself.

I started in 2000, but I remember most of the above.

I remembed being able to run through Crushbone, Lower Guk, SolB to a camp without agroing a mob because it was so camped there was nothing left.
I remember when rangers got SoW at 39. It was moved to 30 when my ranger was 40, lol.
I remember various newbie zones being completely overcamped.
I remember over 100 people at peak times in Lake of Ill Omen on Povar.
I remember being the only person in Lake of Ill Omen on Xev right after the server split.
I remember running from Toxx Forest to Lower Guk for a guild group, shortly after said server split because there were no porters about to take me there.
I remember being in the kill steal group in a raid and getting most of the xp.

Started April, 1999 (this version of Kellenial is actually my 5th attempt as a shaman)

I remember boats crashing into each other causing my toon's death several times. I actually liked boats then...worked on my spell casting and my fishing all the time while waiting.

I remember when going from Qeynos to Freeport was actually a challenge at level 10.

I remember our group seeing an ogre PC for the first time and wondering why we couldn't attack it.

Oasis sand giants and spectres being trained to the docks by people...and being on the receiving end a few times. (I also remember when the mage Monster Summoning line was introduced a few years later and my mage "trained" my spectre pet to the docks scaring people.)

I remember dying repeatedly during the events of Bloody Kithicor on Halloween, 1999.

Running from Live Side zonein in Lower Guk to Ghoul Lord and not seeing a single mob anywhere along the way. Similarly from Sol B zonein from Lavastorm all the way to Naggy's area or efreeti boots camp without seeing anything.

I remember hunting orc wall in Highpass and wizards waiting to get the kill shot on named. (They used to steal kills that way.) I also remember it turned into a cat-and-mouse game because as it got lower, my wife (an enchanter) would charm the named briefly to make them waste their shot, then drop charm so we could finish it before they knew what happened. (We were about 50/50 success on that one.) One of the biggest violators we saw at orc wall tried the same tactic when we were camping runed circlets in Permafrost.

I remember the Meditate BUTTON. (Ooops! You've been sitting there with your book open, but you forgot to push MEDITATE!)

I remember rogues -sucking- because they did marginally more damage than a warrior but had no way to avoid aggro.

I remember when they first made invis random duration.

I remember when they made root break on damage.

I remember people killing guards for XP.

I remember griffons marauding the commonlands and slaying at will.

I remember being blind as a bat just about anywhere after dark because lightsourcing was so terrible. (Look! My Lightstone makes -me- brighter, but fails to reach the ground at my feet!)

I remember wall to wall groups along the ridgeline in North Ro, all looking for something to pull.

I remember struggling with quests and getting a few lousy coppers and no visible XP for my effort.

There are bits that I miss, but there are plenty that I don't.

People coming back to Everfrost/Halas after many weeks far away, and shouting "omg I'm home" to the zone.

Corpse runs made a grown man cry .
