In honor of the upcoming expansion, what has been your favorite and why?

Definetly Old World. I loved the original EQ. Kunark changed the game IMO by starting the expansions. This was a good change but I often find myself wanting to just go back to the original EQ.

PoP just because of the sheer amount of stuff it added to the game. Did hate the flagging portion of it though. I would have to say Velious as my second pick.

I voted for Kunark. I was level 34 when Kunark came out. I'd just made a great group of friends and we were hunting in CT every night. We didn't want to go to Guk or Sol because we had heard they were really crowded with lists for camps.

Two of the guys in my group were monks and they had heard about this great monk stuff (crescent armor, fighting batons) that dropped in a dungeon called Dalnir. Getting there was SO SCARY. Through LOIO, through tiny caves, through Warsilk's Woods (where I had terrible lag and could barely move). We had such a good time in Dalnir.

We did a little Kaesora, getting terribly lost our fist time and getting the melees out with John's gravity flux.

We spent a little time in HS, but we never had a rogue with us so it was a hassle to move between wings.

Definitely, in my opinion the BEST expansion. The best dungeons, tons of items we wanted to get, lots of adventure - beautiful zones.

I was a big wuss and kept gate loaded quite a bit in those days. Rarely used it though.

We actually survived that fight! It was a very fun fight

I agree its the best expansion, and would have been my choice if you didnt put the old world choice in there. I just had SO much fun learning to play the game, more than playing once I kew how to do what I as doing. I love learning knew things and trying for the first time.

I voted for PoP, because of the raid events. I really loved doing progression fights, just hated the backflagging. PoK also made life easier in regards to getting around.

And, of course, I loved PoTime the first 20 or so times I did it =P

I really loved Velious best of all. The lore, the dragons vs giants vs dwarves thing, and oh god the QUESTS! Questing is my bread and butter I did the shawl, the ring, and did the eyepatch for my wee rogue. Also did both the leggings and wristband in GD. I'm sure there were others i did, but can't remember offhand. Oooh, and who could forget 73H SL33PR! I loved every bit of it!

Of course, my opinion may be a little slanted because Velious was the expansion I started out in. It is the old school EQ to me

I'd put GoD as a distant second. Some nice quests. Awesome 1-group content for more than just mindless xp grinding (loved sewers/mountains/ikkinz groups)

PoP and LDoN were the absolute worst, in my opinion. PoP "dumbed down" the game a lot with inta-port stones, raids that required obscene numbers of people, and locked the casual player out of over 75% of content. And LDoN...sheesh. Yeah, i wanna buy my gear with points

Kunark gets my vote - it's where I joined EQ. Sailing to FV for the first time ... Goons in OT ... Combine valley in Dreads ... Sebilis ... Charasis (best dungeon in EQ?). Good memories with all of 'em.

Velious rocks, too.

Was never (still ain't) much of a raider, so PoP doesn't really push my buttons. I'd like to take some time and see more of GoD than I did when it went live, though.

As long as I can have fun with friends, I could traipse around any expansion and I wouldn't care too much.

Velious had PoM. That is all it needed.

Having added in the Shawl, the RINGWAR, the rest of the ring quest, DRAGONS everywhere, giant landscapes, a CHOICE of progression routes (and the dilema of wanting something you kill a guy for and something you quest from the same fellow) and of course the Skyshrine maze and Tserrina of ToFS (still the hottest NPC model ever).

Only expansion that comes close to competing with it is Luclin because it brought the random illusion that was Grieg, and had MANY memorable boss fights, not the least of which was Grieg himself. Plus you haven't lived till you have been FORCED to flawlessly kite a mob because if he manages to swing his hammer even once he'll be invulnerable for at least 8 hours solid, but still allowed to attack you. Only reason Luclin didn't win my vote is because it lacked the flair of quests that made you love/hate the game, except for Seru's earring of course (VT key wasn't a quest, it was... as Jack Castle will tell us... Punishment).

I voted for velious because it was the first expansion to really kick up the endgame a notch with 'uber mobs' and it was very well done and designed.

I was one of the lucky few who bound in the Firepots within the first day or two of the expansion being released. From then until I stopped playing the first time (just before PoP), I was able to port around like a druid or wizard! Made a huge difference in my enjoyment of the game.

I can't count the number of times my Barbarian ported into Cablis and ran invis past the guards. I only died once or twice in 2 years.
