It is quite possible that during a long fight the mob runs out off debuff slots: Sounds a lot but now-a-days I can easily see that get eaten up.

The beastlord spell "Steeltrap jaws!" is a pet buff (duration 10 mins or 6 strikes) that lets their pet proc a 70% slow with a 1 min duration.

It may be that the pet procced slow is not being mitigated - remember that mobs (which includes pets) get all kinds of perculiar rules applied to them, so it may be that a proc slow from a pet is not going through the mitigation routine.

If that was the case then the effective 70% slow from the BL pet on the mob would stop a mitigated turgurs (i.e. an effective 25-50% slow) from landing. The 1 min duration on the pet slow would mean it wears off pretty soon (remember the 1 min is genuine duration as the BL pet does not benefit from debuff extension items). That would explain why Turgurs would land soon afterwards.

Although if this were the case, I'd expect the BL pet slow to blow off Turgurs. hmmm, I might go and test this with a BL on a mob that I know mitigates slow - mebbi something in the elemental planes.

that would not be possible, nomatter how pets worked. the only way this could happen if the spell is cast by a lvl 75 player is if mobs simply locked out all debuffs, including refresh, once the maximum number is achieved. otherwise, the active slow would fade before the recast was met with dth in all scenarios.

even if this were a possibility, you would have known about it long before now, considering how heavily mobs mitigate slow these days. BLs would be the schnizzle and everyone would be using them for everything.

how long ago did they up mobs from 30 to 50 slots? the only thing i can figure that makes sense to me, is if they messed up when they did this, and made it so that there is no check of incoming spells vs. already applied spells at max, and the mob simply blocks everything regardless of what is already on it. if that were the case, the effects would be more noticable on certain encounters than others due to different resists, or lack thereof, or more debuffs being used. if that were really happening though, it would be pretty aparent, since everyone else would be getting jammed too.

Maybe the mob is out of slots and the new Turgur wont take hold because its needing an open slot to overwrite even if its going into the same slot....

To further explain what I mean.

Shaman_A casts slow.
Shaman_B is reslowing.

NPC is out of slots.
It sees Shaman_B as a NEW debuff that has no slot even though it should be overwriting.
This could simply be because Shaman_B is not Shaman_A and it is seeing the spell as different.


Possiblity 2 is that there is a stacking problem with the mob self buffing something....
Have a Ranger NB the mob see if its slowable after.


About buffs not holding.
Noticed that started with TSS release.
I would MGB in GH and a person standing directly next to me wouldnt get the buff.
The code was saying they were out of range even though they were not.
I stopped standing at the one spot in the guild hall to the one side of the augment sealer because of this and now stand in front of it.
Was a pathing problem I think in the GH.... I think they did address the GH bug but its likely the same thing in the other zones.
Something was on the Sony boards about it awhile ago anyway.
Was only group buffs that had the problem when i did it though singles always seemed to land.

I don't think my theory fits the Jelvan event, since in East, Tantho casts (snare and damage decrease). For completeness, Tanthi casts (stun) and Tanthu casts (dd+dot+manadrain). I don't think any of them cast a slow.

I just checked through some old logs and can't see any of them casting something different, but I might have missed it - I wasn't often in East and I'm not always in a group with Spell Awareness.

Snowtail doesn't slow either, as far as I can tell. So there must be another explanation for Turgur's not sticking on those ones, mine only really accounts for Sullon.
