Heh. I think that rather than immature players, what leaps out to me the most is how many bipolar freaks are drawn to your class. No offense meant to present company, you seem much more stable than other druids I've known. It's a class with options, and the direction you take in any moment is basically at your whim. The built in dichotomy of support vs. direct action couldn't be more analogous to the manic nature of other druids I've played with. Heal? nuke? snare? "accidentally" evac groups in the middle of Devlin, Vule, OMM, Tris, Dvoin Msha when he took a guild raid? No one knows what a druid is actually going to do at any given moment, and four seconds later, you could have a petless magician in your group instead of a arb-less cleric! It's hard to believe and are for the same class, but they are! CRAZY SHIT< MAN, AND CRAZY PLAYERS LOVE YOUR CLASS

You're assuming everyone who plays has a clue at all. I think most people don't think about what they're doing ever, in game or out of it. The clueless players may or may not hop on bandwagons, but they're not likely to provide grist for any mill, whether it's productive or just whining. Ask the other shm on your server, in your guild, how many of them stay current on the crucible. It's my theory that the shaman community is one of the most robust out there, but I'll still bet many of the people you ask will say "huh?" when you ask if they read the latest [whatever] thread on crucible.samanna.net. I think the response to asking druids if they read the latest thread on eq.forums.thedruidsgrove.org ... would be much weaker. Maybe it's only the extremists who are motivated to find a community to voice their concerns.

Anyone who's levelled a druid through the mid-late 50s without MMs or PL has paitience. Very hard to get grps, & quadding for decent xp is finished.

Luclin was the most current expansion when I was that level. I spent alot of time soloing the zone in / out tunnels in Chardok to hit 60.

I finally hit 60 in Fungus Grove, duoing with a Rogue friend.

as a necro have you ever kited a mob for 30 minutes or more because it wasnt supposed to be killed solo? true its much faster to kite elsyans with a necro tahn the 15 minutes of slow, low powered druid dots...but those days are gone.

soloing, i can kill xp mobs with decent speed, considering im only using a dogdog to chew on its butt (if i cant root/rot), but as a shaman know that with hots, canni and long term dots i can sustain myself face to face with a mob for a very long period if needed. of course this all goes out the window nowdays, with ether flam/GoM, and what nots, even burst dps classes can maintain mana pools over long durations.

Yea, power upgrades to Druids where awesome 58 - 60, but not so much 55 - 58.

58 gave us Tunare's Renewal, 59 gave us Cabbage, and 60 gave us our Mask spells. We go from low powered heals to healing for over 3k, and having built in mana regen. Its a pretty drastic power shift in the late 50s for us, and I think other classes "catch up" in the lower 60s.

I would imange similar occurs for shaman (or used to pre-LoY) when they got Thier 10 second heal and Torpor at 60. Making their healing that much more effective.

dude...i think i used the 10 second heal 3 times...in bot. even with nothing else but torpor and greater healing, it was still better for me to throw a blast heal, canni, blast heal again then spend 10 seconds doin 2k hp healed, or less.

I'd rather use sloth than our "incomplete" heal.

not many (if any) shaman ever used their 10 sec heal. simply wasnt worth it. cast time alone was unbearable, then you got a pathetic amount of healing. i remember using it in bot as well, 1 or 2 times...demembed, never used it again. i main healed bot several times back in those days, and never missed not using that spell. it was far from a spell that added power to the shaman class, it was mearly and idea (percent heals) that was poorly implemented for shaman (might have worked for druids, but their 10 sec heal actually moved a tanks hps). plus we already have 2 heals memed all the tme, blast and hot, adding a long duration cast heal pretty much wasted a spell slot that you could put a dot into and simply make the mob die faster

I used Kragg extensively from 58 through to 62, main healing PoI factory & PoV hobs or gargs. It's immediately and forever obsolete when a shm scribes Tnarg, but I think it's very good for those four levels.

As a side note, I don't think I've ever in my career healed myself of Canni damage. I'm perfectly content waiting to regen the hp.

With the upgrade to chloroblast, I wouldn't consider Kraggs to be a viable heal any more.

The shaman power curve through the 50's is pretty liniar until you hit 60 IMO. The power bumps are at 51 (Turgurs), 55 (Spirit of the Howler) and 56 (Bane of Nife). At 60 with Focus, Torpor and Malos you suddenly jump in power dramatically at that point you can solo anywhere pre-pop, and form a viable group with ANY 5 other characters no matter what they are.

BTW Fenier, going back to the root message of this thread. I consider you a valuable source of information and a very good contributor here. You bring a different perspective (that of a druid main), and you are well balanced about it as regards druid-shaman issues.

Druids+Shaman share a very similar role, that of being 2nd healers to clerics, and the subtly different perspective you bring provides useful food for thought, and helps improve the quality here
