Interesting Idea - Shared Raid

Was sitting back thinking about the ol' Sleepers kill...
Would be a neat idea to have say 4 demi-gods that "guard" the next expansion (or some other lofty goal) that requires literally 4 guilds to kill at the same time.. ie, you must kill all 4 demi gods within X amount of time of each other before the "forces that prevent you from entering" some zone(set of zones).. Heh, almost would have been a neat idea for Time per se.... Loot handling aside.... what are your thoughts?

It's a doable idea actually. A lot of guilds raid starting at 8:00 est..
And to make the whole server involved, you could have a gimp (1k hitter) type mob that has INSANE regen that would require 300 ish dps to kill just due to regen, so that while the ubers are killing the 4 dragons (or w/e) the rest of the servers general population could be beating down on the 1k hitter.

Interesting idea, but logistically it would be a nightmare beyond compare. And if you look at cutting end content, the disparagy between guilds tends to be pretty high. Also, when was the last time a high-end guild shared it's 1337 strats with others at the same progression level? Very rarely indeed. One last thing to consider, what about non-EST raiding guilds (LC, which I'm part of raids at around 2pm EST, probably the only guild raiding at that timeframe), they would be left out. Not a good idea IMHO.

Bah you just need to raid at a better time then.

I think it is an awesome idea, maybe not 4 make it like 2 or 3, cause some servers arent going to have 4 raiding guilds that can gather a force for a fight at the same time, and if you did it it should be a one time beating event to open something up, sorta like Yar Lir for Nest but once you beat it they dont spawn again, or a VERY long respawn otherwise it would jsut be a pita to get multiple guilds together once a week to do this.

I think its an awesome concept. I think it gets rough in the application.
and i wish there where more PST guilds, not that i want to be in a raiding guild right now but i dont even have an option.

Interesting idea sorta but not practical at all. Assuming your looking at 4 54 man raids your talking about the coordination of over 200 people accross multiple guilds. Ignoring the issues with servers not having enough guilds at the right level, or guild politics or other things that might be server specific that is a HUGE task. With that many people LD's people having to leave because of emergencies etc is just gonna be a major head ache.
Assuming the fights are suppose to be challenging, so you need 54 top end people in the raid to kill them, and take a while, so one guild can't go threw and do them all on thier own, thats 4 chances for something to go wrong and cause the whole effort to fail. Doesn't have to be big to mess things up. MT going ld could easily cause major problems in most fights even if everything else goes right. Not to mention fights like vish where even one mistake can cause other major problems. Depending on the fights one ld from the wrong person, or even 1 ld period, could be fatal and with 200 people involved someone is gonna go ld at some point.
The DoN ones where interesting opening up the nest and such and they where fine because they didn't really effect much else. Yarlir is still a mob everyone can kill just like always. It doesn't put any other guilds at a disadvantage and you still have to get to that point in progression to get any of the instanced content in the zone so all you get as a regular player is the uninstanced zone.

An interesting read for the "newer" players, and ol' school maybe as well :
http://www.albrandes.com/skden/articles/sleeper.asp
It's a really old page, but the information about the -only- completed Sleeper encounter in EQ history is a must for the true fan
