Ok, if sony let the community vote on the idea of adding a new 30 levels to be PC attainable what would the general consensus be amongst you folks. PLEASE, do not just vote and be done with it, mull this over a bit.

Things to consider are the following:

1) This would lessen the glass cieling effect
2) This could increase difficulties in finding groups eventually.
3) This would trivialize a lot of encounters.
4) This would eventually destroy all the current great XP zones
5) This would force us to explore new zones again.

The basic idea here is this. I am wondering what people would think if they added 30 levels and added enough static new content to the game to rival the original EQ release size for those new levels. This is a question stemmed from people complaining of the lost feeling of exploration and danger that used to exist.

I know a lot of people will have the instant NO vote, but I want people to actually weigh all the things this would change before voting, this is something that could change EQ forever so a little consideration would be prudent (obv this poll is not for realz but just to get a realistic responce, please treat it as tho it were).

Please feel free to post with your observations and list out any considerations like I have that I may of missed (there should be quite a few, I was purposefully brief there).

PS - I am not saying this is what I want, I am merely interested in the community responce.

i think this would be fun if enough open content was added (especially making it possible for people to solo if they wish.) I think it would have a negative effect on new eq subscriptions due to the feeling of never being able to attain level 100 and 1450 aa.

Grinding out more levels or AAs that I actually want is the only thing that would keep me playing for a while longer.

Hell, I won't shoot you, what server are you on. I finally quit eq2 because that crap is so bugged it is ridiculous. The end came when They tweaked something and i couldn;t stay in game for more than 5 minutes at a time, on my Birthday. Went and bought WoW, have friends from the old caster's realm on Bonechewer, love world PvP, but wanted to see what it was like w/o the hassle of a gaggle of pink haired gnomes killing me for shits and giggles. So I have a new character on runetotem.


Both WoW and eq2 did it right with quests. Raiding just bores the piss out of me, it isn't the raids as much as waiting for all the slow ass folks to show up so we can start the raid. In EQ1, thats all I had left to do was raid. I'd soloed all I wanted too, TSed as much as I wanted too, grinded freakin exp as much as I wanted too. So I went looking for something with actual questing involved. I could care less if a game is "easy" or whatever, all I want to do is have fun, relax, and not watch American idol three times a week /shudder. Eq2 did it for awhile, but that game has no soul what so ever. WoW is full of l33t sp3aking dudz, but at least I can try and kill em either in a BG or in world PvP. both have enough quests to keep me entertained constantly. i have not gotten bored even in the slightest yet with this game, give it 9 months (eq2 play time) and maybe that changes.


I don't have the community like I used to in EQ1 most of my friends are either gone from the game, afk in MM two boxxing, or raiding and can;t talk.


That being said, if content to keep me busy for the time i choose to play was introduced in eq1 I would welcome 30 levels.

They have to do these lvl cap increases, introduce more AA and such to keep folks on the treadmill. They introduce 5 or 6 new "Uber hard" zones to keep the raiders busy, and that in turn makes sure the guilds 1-3 expansions behind will have plenty to do as well.

Well I think it's an interesting concept, and it might be able to work if they did it exactly right... but to do that it would be so much work that they might as well charge 50 bucks for the expansion. And even if it all did work, how long would it last? I think there are too many what if's and different possible outcomes for this to be feasible

Sounds like what you want is a whole new game where you can import your exsisting EQ character and start playing (kinda like the Wizardy games where you could import a char from crusaders of the dark savant into wizardy8 and just continue playing, etc)

30 levels = no difference in the game. Why? Because of the guilds. Guilds exist to raid. Sure, some guilds raid more than others, but they ALL raid. Whether it be PoBlood or a fun guild only Arena fight. And the key to raiding? Levels. With levels comes spells, skills, AAs, the ability to raid new content that is level locked (RSS anyone?), etc. Which is why if you increase the level cap by 30, I'd say 90% of the player base would IMMEDIATELY grind to 100 and skip everything in between.

It's a vicious cycle the Devs have become caught in. They can increase the content in the lesser used zones, and watch them continue to be unused.......... or they can work on end game, or nearly end game, content and watch people blow through it like chaff and then scream for more while bitching about how long it takes the Devs to do anything and how they wouldn't have to bitch if the Devs would just include more content..... I wonder sometimes if Devs view their customer base as a RL Jekyl and Hyde.

It would depend if they adjusted the con system for higher levels. Currently (from 60-70) -15 levels is dbue, and -20 levels is lblue. So if they don't change it, a level 79 mob would be green at 100.
