How did he trick you into giving up your password info?

I've never given out my password, though I have had my account hacked once, the GM's caught it and got it fixed within in hour however. This was due to someone having hacked my guild's messageboards, and my having used the same pword for the boards as my account. I no longer do this, nor, imo, should anyone.

I am going to have to disagree with a lot of the posters here. When you can't be on 24/7, and you might need a flag, it's usually a good idea to have a couple of people with your log-on info. Just be careful to whom you give it.

All of these people who are posting, "%(*)&% your guild if they ask" probably wouldn't last long in our guild. The first time I had to redo a flag mob for 1 person because they unable to be online during a mob . . . well, let's just say they'd be sitting on their ass a good long time outside of raids--and those people who tried harder to get the flag and couldn't (due to numbers, the people knowing his info not being on, etc.) are going to get first pass at the flagging drops like anguish pies or drops of blood in PoBlood, etc.

If you have to, just make a temporary password and give it to someone you trust. Of course, what I wrote is in violation of the Eula . . . but SoE set up the damn flagging requirements, not me! What I usually tell people is that I strongly suggest that they pick one or two people they know and trust, and let them know the info. Also let them know if they have permission to tell it to a guild officer they trust absolutely in case they have to bot multiple people.

Coincidentally, there was one instance where a cleric logged in to discover that he suddenly had a complete epic 1.5 done. . . so there can be benefits too!

Having access to phone numbers of the people in question is a good idea too. Please note, for the careful readers out there, I neither admit nor deny any violation of the Eula, merely that I have encouraged others not to be in full compliance . . .

Crappy on that Sil getting rooked like that. Hard lesson to learn too and one to really cherish. Hope things get straighten out. I have seen that happen to other people and know it can be easy to sucked into revealing something. So far managed to dodge that and any time I give out password I change it once the need for giving it out has passed (flagging is the biggest thing that comes to mind...F SOE for that BS).

Myself, I just adopt the paranoid state of mind: Everyone is out to get my info! Heh I do not use character name as account name (screw you guys thinking snowfoot is my login for EQ!) and I make sure my info stays with me.

Personally, find the bugger that did it and break his hands. Should teach him a lesson in real life!

dont sound like a guild i want in, i mean if its uncapable of beating flags more than once and all that, and instead prefers to recomend violating eula and endanger loosing your account. but then again, the guild doesnt PAY fo those account, and really has nothing too lose, those players who loose their characters due to a "trusted friend" being hacked or scammed (btw, loosing a character means ALL FLAGS as well as gear, that kinda screws up that giving away passwords for flags thing).

If someone finished my Epic quest for me, id probably thank them, then feed it to my pet...ITS MY QUEST. I enjoy accomplishing things, not having them given to me. also goes along with flags though, I enjoy conquering content and gaining flags to more areas...not logging on and being told im flagged for XXXX zone now...gee, thanks...lots of fun there. I know while im grinding thru encounters/trials to completel ong and complex flags that im probably gonna have to come back and help guildies who werent there get thier flags done...but thats part of being in a guild.

those are my standards, though, i know its common practice for guilds to ask folks to do that. i know tons of folks 2 box otehr peoples accounts, fine...its your choice to risk your account...but theres no way im putting my account in the hands of someone else...way to much money and time invested

Yeah, that kind of attitude is people we don't want, Scowls. We can kill flag mobs multiple times just fine, but when it gets down to 1 person needing a flag mob and they've missed it 3 times, and it takes 1 hour and 15 minutes to redo Sendaii for the 4th time for 1 person . . . then that self-centered, untrusting piece of poop can sit on his ass until we get everyone else flagged. No way is he going to hold the rest of us up and make us commit 53 x 1.15 hours = a collective 61 hours of guild effort (not including one or two who might have to sit out if we get a ton of people logging in) to flag his butt because he couldn't trust ANYONE in the guild enough to hand out his info.

You're also the type of person for whom we wouldn't finish the quest. We picked a long-time member who has had very limited play time of late, and wasn't actively working on his epic. He was so happy his hands were shaking and he was having trouble typing.

People who hold back guild progression with the professed reasons of, (a) "I don't trust them enough to give out my info," and (b) "I don't care if it holds others back, I have to be there to get my own flag to 'experience' the encounter," strike me as too self-centered to work in our guild. Maybe you have a different guild environment. To each their own.
