Unmei - GOM fires like crazy off of DOT's and from my experience with GOM (ever since DOD came out) it seems to fire more on detremintal spells than benefical spells (heals).
Samanna - I believe there is a serious balance issue with GOM and how it works with the spell lineups of different classes. When you talk to the powers that be can you ask them why it does not fire on anything that gives a buff icon? After all some buffs do heal, */cough HOT's*. The description of the AA was very misleading about what it does and does not work on. If they wanted to make GOM work like the description says then it should fire on wunshi, conviction, HOT's, Oak, panther.... etc etc. Gift of mana has a bigger problem than people using zero cost mana spells to get to fire. The damn AA don't work like it is supposed to at all. Now, the balance has shifted so much in favor of classes that cast just detremintal spells 24/7, that the AA has become almost useless for the classes that don't use spells that damage a target or heal a target often. Whomever thought that nerfing GOM to not work on zero cost mana spells has some serious tunnel vision.
Basically if GOM is going to be balanced it should include any 65+ spell cast with a certain base mana cost, like 300 mana-ish. This way everyone would get the benefit of having GOM just as much as any other class. In the current form of GOM it will hardly ever fire for a buffing class and go off like a truck load for classes who cast a lot of detremintal spells that do damage.
This needs to get looked at an fixed..... like NOW !
As it is right now for me i'm thinking it could be better to just max spell crits and chain ice age to trigger a GOM for champ. Then not even buff panther or use serenity and just cast yoppas on a GOM. I got no numbers to back this up but it seems like if GOM is going to get any use this might be one way to go for me personally.
