Uh...
Why hasn't anyone asked what the conditions of the comparison are? Druids, clerics, and shaman all tank better or worse depending on level, gear, AA, and applicable spells. For example, my 67 Shaman with maxxed defensive AA's through PoP is a FAR superior tank to my wifes 67 Cleric with no defensive AA's, but higher AC. Also, my Shaman tanks far better than my 65 Warrior, with about the same AC, but about 1/3 the defensive AA's. However, there are 67 druids (raid gear and 500+ aa's) that solo mobs we couldn't hope to duo, or barely even kill with another group member.
Maybe it has been mentioned, but so far I've read comments from mid 50's players to raid level players, so I just thought I would bring to light the discrepancy in the conversation.
Do we tank better than clerics or druids?

I play my cleric a bit solo, only 27 so far but my defense is at 131 4 more points to be maxed
for the level, might not help much in the end but won't hurt either
As for the cc part i have 1 stun and 1 root memmed together with 3 heals, 1 nuke and da,
pulling mobs of to the side and root them works nicely even for a cleric.
I know not everyone updates there skills in magelo but my 27 cleric has more ac then some
60+ clerics, which i'm sure is only because lack of defense skill in magelo, if not scary
for the level, might not help much in the end but won't hurt either

The answer to the question is simple guys, whichever priest class steps up to tank the mob FIRST, will die first. Whichever priest class steps up to tank the mob LAST, will die last.
Seriously though, is there a point to this thread?

Tonight, I was in Wall of Slaughter, intending to solo/kite Murkgliders while looking for group.
Well, along the way to the Murk caves I encountered the corpses of 3 mobs including a named, and only one player in the vicinity -- a level 70 Cleric named Lanlastone.
I received a tell from him asking if I would like to join him while waiting for another group invite.
My initial thought was: "Sure, I don't mind if you want to assist me in kiting mobs. It will give you a chance to get some experience while waiting for a traditional tanking group." I found out very quickly that it was he who was tanking/soloing those mobs, and that it was he who was doing me the great favor by allowing me to share in the loot and experience. My only job was to speed up the kills and not get aggro.
I watched as he tanked at WW1 for close to an hour, with maybe 2 minutes of downtime, taking out 3 named mobs during this period. I ended up with quite a bit of AA experience, and a nice Charm drop and face item for my wife's Shaman and Druid.
Listening to each person's opinion, it seems that it may be possible for all 3 priest classes to tank effectively.
But there's one thing I know for certain, and that is Lanlastone is one tough Cleric!
