Short bursts is all that exists in GoD. There's no value to sustainability anywhere in that whole expansion. Ergo, slow sucks, slow healing sucks, slow damage sucks, shm... suck. Going back five levels & four expansions' worth of gear/AA/spells later, with heavy adjustments having been made to the base of shm healing ability, I guess I can see how that might be hard to understand.
Circa GoD:
Sylvan Healing (now 2441 base) : 2100hp
Daluda's Mending (same mana cost, same cast time, now is 2144) : 1550hp
Druid healing was 33% better than shaman. Mob dps was ferocious, fights were short. Heals with longer cast time need not apply. Heals that took longer than Duration:Instant need not apply. If you tried anything other than blast heals, people died.
So that was the situation. If it were the perspective you choose to take, GoD was one big experiment in how to marginalize the shm class. Velious did it to Enchanters. Prevamp Ssra did it to melee. GoD was the shm lowpoint, big time.
