Group panther!

I don't care if it costs 2500 mana, allow me to do other things than chain cast this thing every other mob. I know it's my choice to do so but it would be so wonderful to cast once and be done with it rather than cycling through 3 group members and 2 pets every 1 3/4 minutes.

I'd say on average I cast it on 5 people and/or things in a given group (sometimes 4, sometimes 7). 475 x 5 = 2375 mana. This leaves me enough mana to balance of discord (no TA) 2 mobs only to rinse and repeat.

I would love to have group panther way above and beyond any revamp of canni, any new slow, any TA inventory clicky... it would be considered, to an extent, a solution to our burst dps (a way to throw in a dd or two rather than cycling panther.

Same kind of things: i'd like Champion to be MBGable. So when the raid leader calls out: MAX DPS ! we could do something better than scratching our head wondering if another 45 hp/tick dot will be resisted or if another lvl 45 pet would make the difference

Of course i am a bit exagerating. I understand that our DPS must stay low for the sake of class balance, but what about indirect DPS: Panther and Champion ?

i always use mgb anc aid when raid leaders call out dps discs, unless i am in the dps group (2rogues 2 monks and a ranger)...then sometimes i save mgb and just go nuts on them. hopefully the new expansion will have something to improve panther line with. making it 7 times more irritating than FA isnt what i call a huge step forward for shaman. but it was nice of them, and better than snare for rangers

By making it group castable though you're crippeling it at the same time as making it less of a hassle. Unless people have the pet affinity AA, pets wont get it. How about soloing? Do you wanna spend say, 2500 mana panther dog dog? Making panther groupable would make it way more useless that people view it to be now.

Rather than revamping panther, a new spell which would be group panther makes more sense, as Champion is to FA (with the 10% dmg mod of course too).

Nod, I would hate group panther, unless it was another spell, in which case I would be happy to see it. Not sure I would make THAT how I'd fix panther as my first choice, but I wouldn't be opposed to it.

Panther was fine before OTHER than the effect it had on pets. If they could have left it the same on melees and made pets the proc rate they have now, even keeping it to group only, I would be happy with it.

i asked in shaman chat how often people were useing panther in groups post nerf. overwhelmingly the answer was "not ever" or "only on named."
i have been useing it, but my response back to chat was "with the amount of hastle it is now, it is hard to see the added DPS being worth it."

i may stop useing the spell all together as it makes me crazy. same thing i did with FA back in the day... a new group version of the spell would be usefull imo.

btw, people who don't have pet affinity don't get their pets buffed. Any pet class i group with that hasn't put the AA into it is on crack imo (outside of SK) =p

Aye, esactly what he said, although I believe it is easily dealt with and not worth risking them taking bellow thing away. I doubt devs dont know about bellow trick considering that it has been around since PoP.

Personally I have Panther almost perma memed while xp'ing (I swap it out only to mem and refresh Champion, saves me a spell slot) and keep it up on as many pets and melee types in the group as I can (5 targets maximum, I still DoT and nuke too). I use it becuase it is a buff that is fire a forget DPS. You buff up the group and it's that much more DPS you add, MoB's die that much faster, you gain xp that much faster, the group can handle more at once etc, etc.

It's still a very useful spell in xp groups although it is a rather large mana drain. You need not only have a very large mana pool to be able to use it and still have mana for things beyond Malos/Slow like nukes, DoT's, root cc'ing and spot heals but you have to be very on the ball about hitting canni and mass canni everytime it pops or it can easily suck you dry.

Sure it's a pain in the ass to keep refreshing every 3 - 4 mobs (80% Buff extension helps alot) moreso that any spell in the Avatar line ever was and SoE can kiss my a$$ for not only sticking us with a spell that is such a PITA but then nerfing the crap out of it after it was so popularly recieved.

Raids are a differnt situation, it's only really useful against boss mobs (Keeping a proper Melee Group perma buffed with Panther during say a Vishtimar fight is a large increase in overall damage and DPS) However keeping Panther up during clearing is pretty much a waste because of three things 1) Mobs die so fast anyways 2) Mobs are usually incoming at a rapid pace and in large numbers, requiring lots of time and attention for debuffing and 3) it takes a fair chunk out of the time you should be focusing on debuffing MoBs (Int Casters, Clerics and the weaker off tanks thank you)

So anyways I use it, it's another tool that ups DPS and makes me as a Shaman more desireable in a group becuase I use it and it makes the melee classes chests puff out when they proc. However I don't really like the spell becuase the short duration is a serious pain in the butt.

I like it because it is effectively a DoT I can cast without the mob being in camp, very efficent if you have constant pulls. I also generally have 5+ targets to put it on in my groups because of pets and the like. The DPS is very noticable, and then I can add my nukes and dots to the mix as well.

Curiousity question.

Would a panther that lasts 3 times as long and costs 3 times the mana be more widely used?

It would be more convenient, but less efficient in an XP group because you'd have the "panther clock" ticking during any downtime (though this might be offset by having more time that can be spent not casting Panther).... and should certainly be considered "balanced" against the current version since it would still be group only, so there would be no actual change in the amount of people/damage the shaman could cast on/cause.

I gather a lot of folks feel it's not the mana, it's the annoyance?

I'd rather see the short term DPS upped than make it more mana over a longer time. If it was more mana for a group version that would be fine, but I like panthering with "spare" mana, and using a larger amount at a time could cause problems when "Oh shit!" scenarios came up, as you would have to budget your mana further out if you were taking a larger bite to cast on 4-5 targets at a time.
