I returned to EQ in December of last year. Before I was a 65 druid one fight from Time, when that was a bigger deal. I came back and reactivated an old account to find Ledas on it. He was lvl 9 and since I wanted to play a shaman, I decided to use him. This time I have played for myself and to enjoy playing with my wife, ranger, and our friends. I just hit 70 last week and got my first 69 rune, which I never thought I'd see. I basically only get to play on weekends but I am so much happier playing now for myself, not the guild. Although I have to admit I do miss raiding more and more since I am now finding my upgrade option much more limited now.

Returning to EQ is possible, but it takes a lot of intensive work to get caught up. I came back after a year. When I left my guild was just starting Plane of Time. I was lucky because even though they left plane of time, they went back for a bit to gear up some new recruits after I returned. If you want to put in the time, you can get back, although it may not be to the guild that you left. I was lucky.
