A fresh MMO start in EQ1: is it even possible anymore?

Hey, all.. for some reason I cannot seem to get away from the fact that EQ1 rubs me like NO other game does. I used to play a few years ago (around when Planes was released if I remember correctly) but quit when EQ2 came out, and played that for a while, raided, etc., but I just got bored.

World of Warcraft.. well.. that is just a poor game overall, and I have no idea how they have 11 million subs.

Anyways, my question is: is it possible to start a new character and get to 80 without solo'ing the whole time? The game is old now, so I assume that the lower level zones are a ghost town by now, and, quite frankly, I'm afraid that most of the game is.. is this the case?

Also, what US-PvE servers have a fairly decent population nowadays? I used to play Tunare, but it's probably dead by now.

Thanks for the help,
-Aari

Most lower levels are alts but their are a few who have come back to the game who have started over.

If you start a new toon and you might stay in the tutorial zone Mines of Gloomingdeep fastest way to fine others low level to group with at the start plue lots of npcs to help explain or refresh EQ standard info. Make sure to add the names you group with to your fiends list.

past lvl 20 use the commande
/who all # #
/who all 15 20 !lists peeps thoes levels and you can see what zones or who you might send a tell to to see they have room for you

They added HOT ZONES - upped Exp zones for a short time in specific zones to help focus the diffent lower then 80 levels into a single their lower lvl zone so they can group faster.

They have added Mercenaries were added with the Seeds of Destruction expansion in October 2008. They are player-controlled NPC's which act as group members.

This will allow small groups of 1-5 peeps to add a tank or healer as needed to creat a group or to keep a group going when some one leaves.

Have fun.
My suggestion would be to post on your old server and see if you have any old friends you might also be coming back or never left.
