Well, quite simply, we were hacked, although nothing overtly destructive seems to have been done.

I reset everyone's passwords to something unintelligible. Please use the feature to have a new password sent to your email address of record. If there is some problem with getting email at that address, create a new account and PM me here, we'll try to work something out.

PLEASE NOTE that new passwords will have to be 8 characters or longer, and will require mixed case, and numerals. You will also need to change the password quarterly.

PS, for what it's worth, my SA checked the logs and it appears that they got my user/pass from some other hacked board, since there was a simple login, no evidence of exploit testing on this site.

If you are seeing this content at http://crucible.samanna.net , that means that we have successfully promoted the QA site for the phpBB 3 upgrade to production. We are missing about two weeks' worth of posts, but I felt that getting us back online with better security was the priority.

EDIT: Also, with the CC role going away, I moved the CC forum posts into the General forum for each class.

Okay, so you have noticed some changes. Let me try and provide a brief overview.

The first four tabs under the logo will take you to the listed area, so you don't need to scroll through the whole mess on the index page if you don't want to. The Dev Tracker will list the devs, and you can click on their names to find their posts. Search, Profile, and a link to EQLive.

Profile changes - I don't have mods to limit your personal choice of seeing avatars and/or signature images, sorry. But in an attempt to limit the clutter, I have put a mod in place to only show signatures once per page, so if two peeps are replying to each other all day, it's not "No, you're wrong, blah blah." with 4 inches of sig image. Also, please select the bot-prevention field of seventeen squared, and at least your primary class - you'll see why when you read some posts. There are also fields for two alts/boxes.

Lastly, that column on the right... it's a persistent navigation menu. No, I couldn't get the old version working here, sorry. I did try, believe me. Anyway, if you leave, for example, the Progression tree fully expanded, it will stay expanded - for you - on any page you visit. And when you return three days later. So it's like your own personal navigation tree, with only the ones you go to frequently expanded. And if it makes the screen too wide, you can position your window with that column off the side. It's a fixed width, and you'll still have forum/topic scrollbars visible to get around in the forums.
