We no longer have a forum for EQ2 talk because it went about over 4 months with no posts (6 if you don't count screenshots). Happy Googling.

I've never even looked for an EQ2 spell / ability list, because you automatically get every spell /ability as you level.
I use O-Gaming for quest solutions when I get stuck.
My bruiser is level 34-1/2 now.

I've been playing EQ2 way way more than EQLive now for over a year.
Shaman aren't all that special. If you want an offensive sort of shaman, you need to go through freeport and be a Defiler. They're the more curse / damage oriented of the shaman. The Mystic is the Qeynos Shaman, more focused on healing and buffing. Both classes really seem to fade into the background. I know they're out there, but you just don't see that many.
Both cities have a series of starting quests now, that will carry you through to about level 15 for exp. If you really have no preference for specific class, I would say go Mystic - the Qeynos newbie quests are easier and give about hte same rewards.

I have played a Mystic now in EQ 2 for about 4 monts I was playing a shammy on maelin but hit the glass ceiling on 65 as I was unable to get any spells or do any fun content whatsoever due to a lack of playtime and people to group with. Sitting for hours LFG when you have little time is horrible.
I really enjoy EQ2 I am lev 45 now and have grouped or doued my way there. Mystics are very different than what the shaman is in EQ 1 and I was less thrillled when I found out that I was mainly a healer, but you can slow and debuff and DoT (slow & debuff is still important against powerful mobs but your Dots isn't much to cheer about). Soloing is slow as a mystic after 40 that much is true but on the up side as a healer you are never LFG for long, and that is one of the things I like most in EQ2, you will almost always get a group as a healer so you do not have to solo (and the grouping xp is much better, drops are better in dungeons designed for groups too).
As someone said defilers (the evil shaman) is a slightly better soloer and debuffer but is lacking a bit in buffing power compared to the mystic, both are semi rare classes and you will often group with people that have no idea what you can do (that is always fun). You will have most fun when you are in a full group with another of the healing classes (templar, inquisitor, fury, warden or defiler) as you can take turns healing, debuffing and so on. You still get a pet (albeit a wery weak one but can be made into a very efficient weapon for raiding with the right AAs).
What class you want to play is up to you, most popular in EQ2 seems to be mage, necro, monk, wizard and the rogue classes, healers bards and chanters are rarer, if you want to play something different than a shammy but with the same utility play a bard, they are jack of all trades in EQ2.
What I really like about EQ2 is that its possible to get a group and do an interesting dungeon at any level, and actually do the dungeon not just sit in room XX and pull all day. The system rewards those who moves and sees and does new things (and the quests in dungeons too force you to do move). Its easy to get groups, lots of fun places to go, a lot of qualified content in the game is doable on 2 or 3 players. If you solo all the way you will miss a lot of the good stuff in EQ2 but its doable for almost everybody. Combat in EQ2 is fast and you will get very stressed as a healer the first time, crowd control is less important (unless you REALLY need it), but you will still need good players (as a side notice due to the speed of combat and the awesome DPS potential of some of the DPS classes if you are a single healer and a DPS class draws aggro you do not heal them your task is keeping the MT alive if they live on your area heals if fine if they don't well thats life, so aggro management is vital for a good player of a DPS class) Also you can buy playermade equipment at least up to your 40s and not feel that you are underequipped. Concentrate on finding deals on the broker and you are fine. Whats important is your spells and that you upgrade your class definging spells as high as you can afford.
Mystics and defilers are wanted in the end raiding game I am told, as we work well with the regular healing classes (clerics have big but slow heals, shamans have wards that essentially are a short time major HP buff, druids have regular hp heals faster but heals less damage).
To sum this up, if you like EQ1 and is upset that you cant get a group and do fun stuff, that the grind just to catch up with the level (75 now isn't it) is tiring, tired of the endless grinding in WoS or wherever the current must grind place is, or get dismayed when you realize that 200 AP is reqired to get to do/see the fun stuff EQ2 is for you. If you raid in EQ1 and love it do not bother, also as someone said EQ1 is a bit more involved and if you have the time for it more rewarding. EQ 2 is a more casual game but if you are unhappy in EQ1, move you will not regret it, I didn't.
Also Echoes of Faydwer was just released and the boxed version contains the basic game and all the expansions, and its faydwer again with Butcherblock and kelethin and so on, its also very beautiful and a great time to start a new toon.

I played some eq2 the last few days and it's rather fun, i love the tradeskills, at this pace my tradeskill level will pass the regular one
As for spelllists the ogaming one is okey but i do lack more info, nukes great fun but no info whatsoever about the dmg they do, or how much that specific buff adds, bit lost on the whole avoidance/mitigation part to, bit used to the good old ac value i guess from eq1,ao, wow has armor but guess similar, are there like any formula as to what are good values for avoidance/mitigation at certain levels? i kind of lack references so no idea if i'm doing okey or not.
