| Edit | Del All Plane of Time equipment Not a popular subject to broach here it seems, but was wondering if any of you had some wisdom to impart on those of us just starting to fill out their Time gear.

I look back at different stages of the game and am more wise to what items I shouldnt have taken and which ones I should have taken. Was hoping some of you who have been in Time a while would comment on your "Items you can't afford to miss when gearing in Time". Yeah, theres a million different good equipment lineups, but what are those items that are just 'must-haves' from Time? Whats on the 'best' list?

Note, some Gates of Discord info added

1. Quickening of Mithaniel!
------------------------
In my opinion this is simply the best effect you can get in time. It makes a huge difference to a raiding paladin. Additionally, it is only on two items, so by choosing which of these you want, you already start narrowing your choices:

Faceguard of Frenzy
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: FACE
AC: 60
STR: +25 DEX: +15 WIS: +15 INT: +15 AGI: +20 HP: +170 MANA: +145
SV COLD: +30 SV POISON: +30
Required level of 65.
Effect: Vengeance V (Worn)
Focus: Quickening of Mithaniel
WT: 3.5 Size: TINY
Class: WAR CLR PAL SHD BRD
Race: ALL
Slot 1, Type 8

Amulet of Crystal Dreams
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: NECK
Stringed Instrument
AC: 30
DEX: +18 CHA: +15 WIS: +20 INT: +20 AGI: +15 HP: +180 MANA: +165
SV FIRE: +30 SV DISEASE: +30 SV MAGIC: +25
Required level of 65.
Effect: Spiritual Fury (Worn)
Focus: Quickening of Mithaniel
WT: 0.8 Size: TINY
Class: WAR PAL RNG SHD MNK BRD ROG BST
Race: ALL
Slot 1, Type 8

Now, look at those two items. I am an AC fiend myself, so right away, the mask looks a whole lot more appealing to me than the necklace. However, there are some counterbalancing factors. First, the neck has more hp, being from phase 4, instead of phase 3 for the mask. Secondly, there is 5 mana regen on the neck. Mana regen is hard to come by on time items for a paladin, so the neck may be for you. The neck used to be hybrid only, and when it was, it was practically rot from the start, now that it has more classes, more people ask for it, but it still seems to be a "low bid" item, for us, going to the new people for the most part. That said, I think 4 or 5 paladins in my guild have this neck, while only one (me), has the mask. The mask seems to be a lot rarer than the neck as well.

2. Neck, Mask, Preservation, Distance focus

Well, there are a few other key items, which may influence your choices above, but once you make the above choice, you will have some options restricted:

2.a.There are only 3 items in time for paladins that have mana preservation on them:

Necklace of Eternal Visions
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: NECK
AC: 45
DEX: +20 STA: +20 CHA: +25 WIS: +18 INT: +18 HP: +190 MANA: +180
SV FIRE: +15 SV DISEASE: +15 SV COLD: +15 SV MAGIC: +15 SV POISON: +15
Shielding: 2
Required level of 65.
Focus: Preservation of Mithaniel
WT: 3.5 Size: SMALL
Class: WAR CLR PAL SHD BRD
Race: ALL
Slot 1, Type 8

Talisman of the Elements
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: NECK
AC: 30
DEX: +18 CHA: +20 WIS: +20 INT: +20 AGI: +18 HP: +220 MANA: +200
SV FIRE: +30 SV COLD: +30 SV MAGIC: +30
Required level of 65.
Effect: Aura of Resolution (Worn)
Focus: Conservation of Xegony
WT: 0.8 Size: SMALL
Class: ALL
Race: ALL
Slot 1, Type 8

Cloak of Wishes
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: BACK
AC: 30
STR: +18 DEX: +25 CHA: +10 WIS: +15 INT: +15 AGI: +15 HP: +165 MANA: +140
SV DISEASE: +20 SV MAGIC: +20 SV POISON: +20
Required level of 65.
Effect: Vengeance III (Worn)
Focus: Preservation of Xegony
WT: 1.0 Size: TINY
Class: WAR PAL RNG SHD MNK BRD ROG BST
Race: ALL
Slot 1, Type 8

Now, being an AC fiend, my eye naturally goes to the Eternal Visions one. This one only provides preservation for beneficial spells (buffs and heals), which means you may or may not want to suppliment it with a Preservation of Xegony item, probably either the same cloak, or the tradeskill earring. This item also is one of the two we can get for neck that has a shielding mod. If you want to maximize your shielding, then you have to get this neck.

But shielding is not that useful right now, so a good argument could be made to go for the Talisman, giving you great mana preservation all around, and good regen and excellent attack. With all the things we need to balance, getting to 250 attack is not trivial, and this is a huge boost. Of course this is a quarm item, and a lot of guilds limit you to one quarm item, perhaps you prefer the bracer, or earring, or either of the ranged items.

Then we come to the cloak. Personally, I dont like the cloak so much. I would rather go with the shield/cloak from phase 3 if you want a cheep cloak with tons of AC, or go for the premium cloak which is the Platinum Cloak of War from rallos zek, with its avoidance. Some might argue going for the shielding cloak from quarm, but again, I do not like the low ac combined with using up a quarm loot. It will raise your shielding though. The nice thing about the cloak of wishes is it is real easy to lowball it, very low demand for it. There are so many good cloaks for every class in time, that this one usually comes in no better than 3rd choice for most people, so they do not go for it. If you do not have a shot at a tradeskill earring, it might be worth picking this up.

2.b. Mask and distance focus

There are two items in time that provide a distance focus for us:

Visor of the Berserker
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: FACE
Singing
AC: 52
STR: +15 STA: +20 CHA: +15 WIS: +18 INT: +18 AGI: +15 HP: +195 MANA: +175
SV DISEASE: +25 SV MAGIC: +25 SV POISON: +25
Required level of 65.
Effect: Vengeance VII (Worn)
Focus: Druzzil's Range
WT: 2.5 Size: TINY
Class: WAR CLR PAL RNG SHD BRD ROG SHM
Race: ALL
Slot 1, Type 8

Hoop of the Enlightened
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: EAR
AC: 22
DEX: +18 STA: +20 WIS: +17 INT: +17 HP: +150 MANA: +140
SV FIRE: +20 SV DISEASE: +10 SV MAGIC: +20
Required level of 65.
Effect: Flowing Thought III (Worn)
Focus: Druzzil's Distance
WT: 0.5 Size: TINY
Class: ALL
Race: ALL
Slot 1, Type 8

Now the earring used to be almost a freebee when it was hybrid only, but now it is slightly more contested. However, being only phase 2, it is pretty easy to pick one up.

The mask I believe is the second best choice for a paladin in time, and is definitely what I would try to get if you go with the Amulet of Crystal Dreams. It has good AC, gives a ton of attack, and also has the best distance focus. I find distance focii are most useful because they extend the range of all our heal spells, including the short range ones like loh, but the range you can heal using touch is huge when you have a distance focii.

Another popular mask choice is:

Veil of the Inferno
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: FACE
AC: 32
STR: +20 DEX: +22 WIS: +18 INT: +18 AGI: +20 HP: +185 MANA: +185
SV FIRE: +15 SV DISEASE: +15 SV COLD: +15 SV MAGIC: +15 SV POISON: +15
Required level of 65.
Effect: Form of Endurance (Must Equip, Casting Time: 4.0)
WT: 1.0 Size: SMALL
Class: ALL
Race: ALL
Slot 1, Type 8

This mask is inferior in my mind as a worn item, but the click gives +180 hit points, and you will still likely be using that click in a year, or even two, when you have banked all your other 'old' time items.

3. Haste

Helm of Flowing Time
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: HEAD

Cord of Temporal Weavings
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: WAIST

SV DISEASE: +25 SV COLD: +25 SV MAGIC: +25

Effect: Time Distortion (Worn)
WT: 1.0 Size: MEDIUM
Class: WAR PAL RNG SHD MNK BRD ROG BST
Race: ALL
Slot 1, Type 8

I think you can make a good argument to go with any of these as a haste item.

I choose the helm because there is really only one choice for a helm if you wish to upgrade over elemental, and haste comes with it.

The haste shoulders are more haste, 46% instead of the 41% haste of timespin, so for the dps fiend they are the choice to make, but they have the downside of more competition and you then cannot go for the higher AC Paudrons of Devestation.

The cord from quarm is 45% haste, almost as fast, and has a huge strikethrough mod, making it a very nice belt. For a while, the belt was my choice, but eventually I decided the AC was too low for it to be a quarm loot for me, combined with the fact that there was only one helm choice. And finally, I was starting to like stun resist, so decided I wanted to get the stun resist belt from inno.

The earring pretty much speaks for itself. It has great stats. The only downside in my mind is you only have two ears, and depending on what you plan to put on them, you might not have room, combined with the high demand for this earring.

4. Click Effects

4.a. Overhaste or Mana regen: There are two really useful click effects for us, which do not stack with each other:

Celestial Cloak
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: BACK
AC: 28
STR: +22 DEX: +22 CHA: +25 WIS: +20 INT: +20 HP: +185 MANA: +185

Silver Hoop of Speed
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: EAR

STR: +25 CHA: +20 WIS: +18 INT: +18 AGI: +15 HP: +225 MANA: +190
SV DISEASE: +25 SV COLD: +25 SV MAGIC: +30
Combat Effects: +15
Required level of 65.
Effect: Primal Guard (Must Equip, Casting Time: 3.5)
WT: 0.8 Size: TINY
Class: WAR PAL RNG SHD MNK BRD ROG BST
Race: ALL
Slot 1, Type 8

Slot Description
1: Increase Haste v3 by 5%
10: Increase Hitpoints by 5 per tick

The cloak effect is very nice, giving 5 more mana regen on top of everything else, but I do not like the AC to wear the thing. I would use it, as a click, but I am not sure it is worth getting for the AC loss.

The earring is all good in every way, as you would expect of a quarm loot. This in my mind is the single best quarm loot, and based on our guild poll, definitely the most in demand item from him. Adding 5% haste over the cap is great for dps, but I like the combat effects just as much, not to mention the hps and AC. While this may not be the aten neck of potime, I do believe this is the best single loot in time, it really has no bad points.

Of course, in theory you could get both of these, and switch between which click you used depending on the situation.

4.b. The 'form of' click effects

Veil of the Inferno (see above)
Spell Effect: +180 hp

Earring of Celestial Energy
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: EAR

WT: 0.4 Size: TINY
Class: ALL except NEC WIZ MAG ENC
Race: ALL
Slot 1, Type 8
Spell Effect: +45 AC, +15svall

Now, we have already discussed the mask. Personally, I feel that 54 AC > 180 HP, so based on that alone, I would pick the ring over the mask. Those two are the most popular (and common) items. I think the quarm ring is clearly the best effect of all, being almost as much AC and saves as the other two combined. Of course, it is a quarm loot, with all the caveats about quarm loot.

From a equipped gear perspective, I would consider either ring, or the earring to be of sufficient AC to use, while the mask and belt seem low AC to me.

Whichever one of these you get, remember it does not stack with any of the others, so the first one you get may be the last from this set.

5. Time effects: avoidance, shielding, combat effects, stun resist, strikethough, spell shield, accuracy

Their are no caps of these abilities, they are all gear limited. What this means is if there is an item for that slot with that time effect for us, then we have to get that item in order to be the best we can be in that time effect. So, you are going to have to prioritize all of these effects and plot out which ones are most important to you, because you will almost certinaly be sacrificing some to raise others.

My order of priority is the one above, and of those, only avoidance is one that I do not want to give up anything to get as much as I can, especially since we only have two items with avoidance:

Platinum Cloak of War
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: BACK
AC: 40

Avoidance: +10
Required level of 65.
Effect: Composure (Worn)
WT: 1.0 Size: SMALL
Class: ALL
Race: ALL
Slot 1, Type 8

avoidance: mobs miss you more, a good rule of thumb is 10 avoidance = 50 AC worth of mitigation
shielding: effective on mobs with a higher min hit, shielding % reduces every hit by that percentage of the min hit (technically its the DB not the min hit, if you know the difference)
combat effects: this increases crit rate, increases proc rate, and also may modify other combat effects
stun resist: direct % chance to ignore any type of stun, caused either by melee or spell
strikethough: basically a dps increase from the front, this is a chance to ignore a dodge/parry/riposte of the mob and hit it anyway
spell shield: direct % reduction in all DD spells (aoe or not)
accuracy: this is another way to increase dps, similar to attack, but not capped

6. No brainers There are some slots where we only have one choice of loot. Either we take what time has to offer, or we do not upgrade. Some cases there are other choices for that slot in some of the high end ldon raids, but in time alone, there is one choice.

For the most part, these follow visible slots:

Helm of Flowing Time

For bracers the only plate choice is the quarm one, but we can also use the chain bracer from CT, with 5 FT and 25 attack, it is viable to some, even with its chain level AC.

For gloves, it is a choice to go with plate gloves from phase 2 (what I did), going with high AC and low hp, or chain gloves from inno, sacrificing AC for hit points and more strikethrough

7. Healing focus

If you are not going to use a pre-time healing focus, like elemental arms or xegony ring, then you can either go for a plate bp (see below), or settle for the low ac shoulders from inno:

Mantle of Pure Spirit
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: SHOULDERS
AC: 25
DEX: +20 STA: +20 CHA: +15 WIS: +25 HP: +170 MANA: +200

Focus: Marr's Blessing
WT: 0.8 Size: MEDIUM
Class: CLR PAL RNG DRU SHM BST
Race: ALL

Or you could skip them altogether and try to get the 40% focus augments from LDoN raids.

8. Weapons and Shields

There are three 'top' weapons we can use in time, plus one more choice.

If you want to go one handed and shield, the choice is:

Hopebringer
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: PRIMARY
Skill: 1H Slashing Atk Delay: 25
DMG: 41 AC: 25
STR: +15 STA: +20 WIS: +20 AGI: +25

Shielding: +3%
Required level of 65.
Focus Effect: Furious Bash VII
WT: 2.5 Size: LARGE
Class: WAR PAL SHD

Slot 1, type 8: empty

If you wanted, you could also go with the phase 3 shield, or the shield from tallon zek, but I think both of those are clearly inferior choices, which you might make if needed because you wont be able to get a shield of strife (it is rather rare).

Then the two top 2h choices are:

Vanazir, Dreamer's Despair
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: PRIMARY
Skill: 2H Blunt Atk Delay: 38

DEX: +30 STA: +30 WIS: +25 INT: +25

There are arguments back and forth about which of the above two are better, for various reasons, look for some parsing threads, and then the 3rd choice:

Timeless Coral Greatsword
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: PRIMARY
Skill: 2H Slashing Atk Delay: 36
DMG: 56 AC: 30
STR: +25 STA: +15 WIS: +18 INT: +18

WT: 5.0 Size: GIANT

One other consideration is what raid augments are available for each, these are the two big ones found so far:

Frost-Covered Rock of Prowess
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP AUGMENTATION
Augmentation Type: Fits in slot type 8
Slot: PRIMARY

The bloodied shard is much more common, as most guilds find the Mistmoore Valdoon raid a lot easier than the Everfrost Syncarana raid. There is likely an augment for hopebringer out there, but it has not been found yet. This is what the weapons would look like augmented:

Slot 1, type 8: Frost-Covered Rock of Prowess

Both augmented or both unaugmented, the Greatblade seems to have a slight damage advantage, assuming its proc hits, without proc damage, the Vanazir has the edge. They are close enough that some people choose one or the other for aesthetic reasons.

Damage-output-wise, you are clearly better off going for 2h. AC-and-hps-wise, you have more going 1h and shield, the question is whether it is enough to be worth it. That is a tough call to make, and people decide to go either way. I choose 1h and shield myself, because I think of myself as a tanking paladin, and while shielding is not that great, 3% more shielding is something. Of course, many people will pick up both and swap back and forth depending on the situation.

9. Wrap up

In the end, like anywhere else, you need to balance between what you can realistically get and what is best, factoring in how long you will be farming time before you quit for the next expansion, and how long any item will last, once the next expansion is out. It is impossible to get it 100% right all the time, but I hope this helps some, by giving my perspective.

Addendum: What kind of paladin are you?
I think it is important to note that there are an enormous number of tradeoffs you need to make in almost every loot choice in time. Because of this, you need to figure out what type of paladin you are, so you know what is the best choice for you. I am first and formost a tank, and that drives my choices. Perhaps you are primarily a healer. Or maybe you are a jack of all trades. Perhaps you are an undead slayer.

A paladin that chooses to go all out dps vs undead will end up with vastly different gear choices than one who chooses to main tank, rampage tank, and off tank. No where has that been a bigger difference in gear choices than in the plane of time. As hybrids we already have to juggle so many gear priorities, time effects just make it even harder to do.

Gates of Discord: What has changed?

Alright, there really is a lot to cover with new GoD items, there are some items that fill some holes, some clear upgrades to time items, some so-so items you can use if you dont have the best time item, and a whole bunch of augments.

GoD1: Clear upgrades and standout items

Jointed Scale Greaves
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: LEGS

SV FIRE: +20 SV DISEASE: +20 SV COLD: +20 SV POISON: +25

Required level of 65.
Focus: Fury of Solusek
WT: 10.0 Size: LARGE
Class: WAR CLR PAL SHD BRD
Race: ALL
Slot 1, Type 8

These legs are a straight up upgrade from the legs from CT in time. 1% more shielding is the big upgrade here. They are from an ikkinz raid, and are moderately rare, but no more rare than CT legs.

Blackstone Buckler
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: SECONDARY
AC: 90
STR: +20 STA: +20 CHA: +15 WIS: +15 INT: +15 HP: +205 MANA: +180 ENDUR: +180

Focus: Furious Bash VII
WT: 4.2 Size: GIANT

Again, this is an upgrade from the time shield, this time off rallos zek. This ikkinz raid shield has more shielding, more hp, and slightly more AC.

Pixtt-Emblazoned Plated Gauntlets
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: HANDS
AC: 57
STR: +17 DEX: +15 WIS: +10 INT: +10 AGI: +18 HP: +170 MANA: +150 ENDUR: +150

Stun Resist: +4%
Required level of 65.
Effect: Faerune (Worn)
WT: 4.5 Size: MEDIUM
Class: WAR CLR PAL SHD BRD
Race: ALL
Slot 1, Type 8

High AC, ok HP, stun resist, faerune, what is not to like? Sure, the HP could be higher, but I prefer these to anything in time.

Ring of the Brutish Beasts
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: FINGER
AC: 32
STR: +15 DEX: +15 STA: +20 WIS: +10 INT: +10 HP: +185 MANA: +170 ENDUR: +170

I like this ring for the avoidance. It is a nice AC ring, with average (for time) hp, but the big win here in my mind is the avoidance.

Irestone Band of Rage
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: FINGER
AC: 34
STR: +20 DEX: +20 STA: +15 WIS: +15 INT: +15 HP: +225 MANA: +215 ENDUR: +215
SV DISEASE: +15 SV COLD: +15 SV MAGIC: +20 SV POISON: +20

Effect: Savage Guard (Any Slot/Can Equip, Casting Time: 2.5)
WT: 1.3 Size: SMALL
Class: WAR PAL RNG SHD MNK BRD ROG BST BER
Race: ALL
Slot 1, Type 8

I am not a big fan of this ring, even though it has great AC and outstanding hit points. Primarily I want to focus on tanking and neither the click nor the time effect gains me in that area, which is why I choose to pass on this ring, but it is still a great ring. Any paladin going for dps would want this ring, as it sacrifices little in AC and hp, while giving a decent DPS boost.

Blood-Glazed Helm
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: HEAD

Required level of 65.
WT: 6.5 Size: MEDIUM
Class: WAR CLR PAL SHD BRD
Race: ALL
Slot 1, Type 8

This is a decent helm alternative to time. You loose a tiny amount of hp and ac, but you gain 5 mana regen which might be a good tradeoff. Of course, you will need to find your haste elsewhere.

Blood-Glazed Boots
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: FEET
AC: 52
STR: +20 STA: +20 CHA: +10 WIS: +10 INT: +10 HP: +190 MANA: +170 ENDUR: +170

Required level of 65.
WT: 5.5 Size: MEDIUM
Class: WAR CLR PAL SHD BRD

Slot 1, Type 8

A decent alternative to time boots. You trade stun resist for shielding, losing some AC in the bargain. If you want to maximize your tanking, these are probably the way to go, although I personally would not bank time boots for these (but if I did not have time boots I would get these).

Blood-Glazed Bracer
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: WRIST
AC: 47
STR: +15 STA: +15 CHA: +15 WIS: +15 INT: +15 HP: +170 MANA: +150 ENDUR: +150

Required level of 65.
WT: 4.0 Size: SMALL
Class: WAR CLR PAL SHD BRD
Race: ALL
Slot 1, Type 8

This is a decent bracer alternative to time. If you want two plate bracers, then you are stuck with elemental on one wrist unless you go for this bracer. It is not a huge upgrade from elemental, but it is an upgrade.

Filler and medium value items

Gleaming Metal Cuffs
MAGIC ITEM NO DROP
Slot: WRIST
Brass Instrument
AC: 42
STR: +15 STA: +10 WIS: +10 INT: +10 AGI: +15 HP: +140 MANA: +130 ENDUR: +130
SV FIRE: +15 SV DISEASE: +15 SV COLD: +15
Attack: +15
Mana Regeneration: +3
Required level of 63.
WT: 4.5 Size: SMALL
Class: WAR CLR PAL SHD BRD
Race: ALL
Slot 1, Type 7

This bracer is a good alternative to an elemental bracer, it has similar stats, but gives mana regen, which is something many people with a lot of time gear are lacking. It is from a raid however, and one you probably will not be farming if you are in time, so consider it rare.

Bracer of the Heartstriker
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: WRIST
AC: 42
STR: +10 STA: +15 WIS: +5 INT: +5 AGI: +15 HP: +135 MANA: +125 ENDUR: +125
SV FIRE: +15 SV DISEASE: +15 SV POISON: +15
Required level of 63.
Effect: Cleave I (Worn)
Focus: Marr's Gift
WT: 4.5 Size: SMALL
Class: WAR CLR PAL SHD BRD
Race: ALL
Slot 1, Type 7

Another bracer alternative to elemental, the nice thing about this one is that it is from one group content, so you can pick it up a lot more easily. I would really only go for this if you need Marr's gift (perhaps you replaced your elemental arms, and do not have a bp), but if you need that effect, its a nice bracer. Cleave I is probably a very small dps increase for us, I would not use it just for that.

Crafted Wristband of Strife
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: WRIST
AC: 25
STR: +5 STA: +20 WIS: +10 INT: +10 AGI: +15 HP: +160 MANA: +140 ENDUR: +140
SV FIRE: +15 SV DISEASE: +15 SV COLD: +15
Haste: +46%
Required level of 65.
WT: 1.5 Size: SMALL
Class: WAR PAL RNG SHD MNK BRD ROG BST BER
Race: ALL
Slot 1, Type 8

The big thing here is the 46% haste from 1 group content. This item is no doubt a AC downgrade from elemental, so I cannot really recommend it for fulltime use, but if you are in a dps mode, then why not increase your haste? (Note the haste cap was reportedly stealth increased some time ago and you need a 46% or perhaps even better item to reach it).

Fleshbound Mask of Ire
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: FACE
AC: 38
STR: +17 STA: +10 WIS: +15 INT: +15 AGI: +18 HP: +175 MANA: +175
SV FIRE: +10 SV DISEASE: +15 SV MAGIC: +17 SV POISON: +18
Attack: +25
Regeneration: +5
Required level of 65.
WT: 1.1 Size: SMALL
Class: PAL RNG SHD BRD BST
Race: ALL
Slot 1, Type 8

One group content for a decent mask. Nothing really great about it, but if you have nothing, then its not a bad upgrade.

Muramite Death Shroud
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: SHOULDERS
AC: 28
DEX: +15 STA: +15 WIS: +15 INT: +15 AGI: +15 HP: +180 MANA: +160
SV DISEASE: +15 SV COLD: +15 SV MAGIC: +15 SV POISON: +15
Spell Shield: +5
Mana Regeneration: +2
Required level of 65.
WT: 1.2 Size: MEDIUM
Class: PAL RNG SHD BRD
Race: ALL
Slot 1, Type 8

These are from a raid, so that is a big negative, but they were rot from the first one that dropped for us, so you might be able to pick them up 'cheep'. If mana regen is an issue, and/or you want a set of spellshield gear, then perhaps these will appeal to you.

Glyphed Prayer Ring
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: FINGER
AC: 25
STR: +10 STA: +10 CHA: +10 WIS: +20 INT: +20 AGI: +5 HP: +160 MANA: +160 ENDUR: +160

Spell Shield: +5

Required level of 65.
WT: 1.1 Size: SMALL
Class: ALL
Race: ALL
Slot 1, Type 8

Decent ring, very very common on 1 group content. If your rings are not very good, you should pick up one of these until you get something better. They are so common there is no excuse to not have this ring unless you have better.

Resonating Earring of Battle
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: EAR
AC: 13
STR: +10 DEX: +15 STA: +10 WIS: +5 INT: +5 AGI: +10 HP: +165 MANA: +135 ENDUR: +135

WT: 0.9 Size: SMALL
Class: WAR PAL RNG SHD MNK BRD ROG BST BER

Slot 1, Type 8

Not a huge fan of this ring, but it does get a decent attack boost, and has good HP. If you have junk for earrings, pick up this easy to get 1 group content earring.

Trusik Bone Earring
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: EAR
AC: 20

WT: 0.7 Size: SMALL
Class: WAR PAL RNG SHD MNK BRD ROG BST BER
Race: ALL
Slot 1, Type 8

Raid content earring, and not very common, but if you are a dps type paladin, then this might be something you want to consider.

Earring of Destructive Essence
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: EAR
AC: 15
DEX: +7 STA: +15 CHA: +15 WIS: +8 INT: +8 HP: +130 MANA: +110 ENDUR: +110

Required level of 65.
WT: 1.4 Size: SMALL

Slot 1, Type 8

I prefer the Resonating Earring of Battle to this one (and phase 1 time for other ear if you have nothing), but if you got junk, this 1 group content earring is easy to come by.

Reflective Orb of Energy
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: RANGE

Slot 1, Type 8

One group content, decent focus, AC, hp. If you have junk in your ranged slot, pick one of these up from kodtaz, not very rare.

Carved Vrex Totem
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP

Required level of 65.
WT: 1.8 Size: MEDIUM

Slot 1, Type 8

One group content, if your attack is low and you dont have a ranged slot item, this is not a bad item at all.

Shale Shoulderpads
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: SHOULDERS
AC: 25
STR: +20 DEX: +20 STA: +15 WIS: +15 INT: +15 HP: +220 MANA: +215 ENDUR: +215

Slot 1, Type 8

Not a big fan of these shoulders, because of the low ac and because some other classes really desire them more, but they are out there.

Stone-Worked Pauldrons
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: SHOULDERS
AC: 30
STR: +20 DEX: +15 STA: +15 WIS: +10 INT: +10 HP: +215 MANA: +205 ENDUR: +205

Another set of shoulders that are out there. Very high HP if you are willing to sacrifice AC.

WT: 4.2 Size: LARGE
Class: PAL SHD BER
Race: ALL
Slot 1, Type 8

This is a decent weapon alternative if you need a 2h weapon.

Augments

(Out of time, I will fill this out more later)
There are a whole bunch of AC augments you can get, including 1 group content: two 15ac ones in ferubi, two 20ac ones in kodtaz, 20ac from yxtta. And a raid AC augment for 30ac.

There are non-lore 35hp augments from kodtaz for most slots to fill out your holes.

And there are both 20attack and FT3 augments in kodtaz if you lack in either area (two each). There is another of each in yxtta.

Edit: fixed some typos and added time effect descriptions and addendum
Edit: added weapons info

I did is go to a website with all the loot info, like http://www.darkwind-guild.com/SoL/
and listed all the items. Then I looked at what upgrades I needed, what elemental pieces I still hadn't gotten (plate was very scarce on my server, for example), what non-pop and non-elemental planes items I still wore, what items I still get "bang for the buck" out of (like my Aten neck).

I then made out a list of items for each slot, focusing on trying to get all the different focus effects that are useful, max FT, max attack and max Regen.

Now, considering that we may only have another three months or so until a new expansion comes out, and only getting 1 time loot every 2-3 weeks, I prioritized my upgrades. I'm not going to be able to upgrade every slot more than likely, so I have to focus on which are the most important, which slots provide the biggest upgrades in terms of hps and mana, along with focus affects. I currently have 4 slots on which I'm focusing: bp, boots, helm and shoulders. Once those are accomplished, I'll move on to the second tier of priorities.

If your guild still does the elemental planes regularly, you may still want to consider likely loots from there as well, to better focus on specific slots/items in time.

Finally, remember that everyone and their alt/twink will eventually get all the stage 1 loot (ring, earring, neck for paladins).

Iustus is by far one of the most knowledgeable Paladins on our server when it comes to things like this as you can tell.

Good post Iustus it actually makes me think about the route I want to take a bit more myself. I consider myself one of the jack of all trades types so it is just a matter of balancing out what I need and don't need. This post will help alot for me to pick out a few of the other items I was in questions on upgrading though such as my rings mainly since I already have kind of an idea what I want in my other slots. Just a matter of putting a priority on them so that once the next expansion comes out if I have not upgraded something then I can likely shoot for it come next expansion.

Not that it as a huge deal as armor/jewelry but noone ever covers the weapon/shield/ranged ideals that can come from "time".

Sure there arent many choices but for some a good breakdown of what little there is of those slots might be good just so its all covered.

just a thought i had as i read your nice write-up.

In all seriousness, this is probably one of the best threads created on the subject of high-end equipment. Iustus put alot of time into it, and it shows. I would like to further the petition to have it stickied or put into the Tomes forum.

| Edit | Del RE: Last time I'm going to bump this.

This forum has been, historically, centered on non-high level equipment issues and, as such, has reduced readership for those of us at the high-end of the game.

If the moderators would please comment on if this is how they wish it to remain, or if we actually want high-level equipment discussion to take place here, it would be helpful.

I made the request specifically because this forum almost never addresses issues I am concerned with, and it can even be inferred by the tone of my post.

If we wish any decent conversation for high-end raiding Paladins to ever be something regular on this forum, then we do need to encourage it by recognizing what is probably the most valuable thread on high-end Equipment that I have read in almost a year on this forum.

It does not effect 'all paladins', no, but if there is any value to be gained by us high-end Paladins helping with replies on this forum, it would seem prudent to encourage our use of it. Could we at least get a commentary on why this should not be a stickied or tomes of knowledge guide to Paladin Plane of Time equipment, of which nothing currently exists on the topic as thoroughly on these boards?

I'm not meaning to come off as angry here, but I do not want this piece of information to be lost, or have to refer my guildmember Paladins to it through a copied link.

Pulsing Onyx Ring - Effect: Chrononostrum, which is a buff extension focus. (I don't know how to copy the stats here or link it)

Although it's not the most beneficial of our focuses, it's the only Time gear that we can equip that gives us a buff extension (I hope I'm not missing some other time gear).

------

I have never read this post until now.. but you wrote what was basically in my mind a few months ago, just more clearly than my jumbled mind could of Smile

Plus there was the Time gear change/update which made alot of my choices no longer optimal. Five slots to be exact: Arms, Legs, Boots, Head <--- which effected my choice for Shoulder. All of which are listed on your "6. No brainers" category, except for the shoulder and coincidentially, all of which have 'rotted' prior to the change.

Personally there are two pieces that I had bid on because of the lack of knowledge to those forthcoming changes - Belt (I would've went for the DS clicky belt) and Range (I would've went for the Spool which gives mana regen but less attack).

Again, A W E S O M E , post =)

How rare is the GBoC off of Bertoxxulous? Would it be wise to hold off on Vanazir (which I hear was quite common for the PoTime guilds on my server) in hopes of getting this?

I think it just varies a lot from server to server or even from guild to guild. So much relies on luck of the drops.

We've gotten a ton of GBoCs. I think we're to the point now where we need like, possibly 3 more max (and those are going to apps).

*wanders away for a moment to look up the drops*

Yup, we've gotten 8 greatblades and 7 vanazirs. At least one double drop of each.

It's just luck of the draw and how the loot gods decide to play with you.

Actually, I find that bracer from the Mud ring in PoEA to be quite nice and plan to hang onto it for a while. It's got 41 haste and distance on it. The Faceguard of Frenzy is very nice, makes casting brells so much easier now Very Happy . As for mana preservation, you're missing out Trydan's Boots, which have mana pres IV on them. They're not from time specifically, but they're time level quality, imo.

Quote:, or if we actually want high-level equipment discussion to take place here, it would be helpful.

We have one forum for equipment discussion. If the high end people don't post high end equipment discussions here, then it is THEIR fault the topic is not eing broached.

PoN has never stopped any equipment posts and has even encouraged high level weapon comparison in the LP forum.

If you want more high level equipment discussion then MAKE it. Post questions. Post answers and encourage your fellow 'uber' Paladins to do the same.

Nothing we are doing is making them NOT post.

Semi-related question here regarding GoD augs for Time Gear.
With AC 20 and 50 HP/ mana augs available for most slots, what are most finding that works best.
I'm kinda torn on whether to go with the Higher AC augs to mitigate damage more or the Higher Hpts. Seeing logs on how much the higher AC lowers mobs dps on you and wondering what most feel is better.
Or is the answer to get some of both ?

I just wanted to thank you for the informative post. We have Coirnav and Rathe to go for Time -- may still be a bit yet, since about 4-5 other guilds are at our level so we don't get too many shots at the events -- but I am revising my "goals" list to include Time gear and this post will be very helpful.

On GBoC vs Vanazir: I much preferred GBoC but finally settled for a Vanazir. We have gotten at least ten Vanazirs (and that is from memory) to just one GBoC.

Edit: I remembered another guild Vanazir.

Stumbled across this great piece of work when looking for a description how much exactly the various time effects take influence. I mean: Spell Shield 4 % or Shielding 2 %: that's easy to understand (only getting 2880 instead of 3 K from Quarm's DD AE-Spell or getting hit for 980 instead of 1K), but how much does 10 Avoidance really go for? Justus wrote an assumption of 10 Avoidance = 50 AC, is this value still seen as valid?

From Your respective point of view ( after all, there are quite a lot of guilds who farmed Time) is Avoidance or Stun Resist really noticeable?

I have made up my mind about my route to equipment, but there is of course still some room for shifts Wink . Alas we do have some restictions on Quarm Loot (normally 2 items per player with a possible 3rd for a high penalty), so going down from there, my priority lies on the Cord of Temporal Weavings with the Defense-Clicky following close behind (also comes from the items I have ATM in those slots). The other stuff will come soon enough, I have had my share on loot during the last weeks and got to get back some DKP again afterwards Wink .

Any corrections suggestions to this route?

Once again: brilliant work, Justus, thanks for this posting!

PS: 8 VDD in 8 TTs, 2 GBoC in 6 Bertis, just for Your info.

Well, regarding augments, I am an AC freak, so I get all I can get. Take a look at my magelo profile if you do not believe it.

At some point I think I might have AC augments in every slot, I am not sure if this is really a good idea, but I am an AC adict, I must be true to myself Wink

The only problem I see is that there is a serious lack of flowing thought in the gear posted here. I think the Hoop of Enlightened was the only one I saw if I remember right, discluding clicky effects that stack with the FT max of 15.

In any case, as I'm trying to work on my alternate magelo profile, I see my FT dropping down to 11 because I'm putting on gear with 0 FT in place of gear that had between 1-3 FT on it. I mean I guess I could make up for this by buying FT augments though. Or maybe I'll have to revise my goals a little =p

Bracer from CT = ft5
Neck from TZ = ft5

those are both first class items for a paladin

"discluding clicky effects that stack with the FT max of 15."

theres only one of these, on the cloak from bertox (I think, hasn't dropped for us yet).

All those aura of whatever you see are ft and stack up to ft cap (this is kind of irrelevant now since they got rid of all the unique effects anyway).

The main reason the tradeskill earring is in my idea profile is because the item I want to put there (hoop of the lizard slayer) is not in magelo yet.

I prefer not to put items I would not actually want in my profiles, even if they are technically upgrades.

Right now, of the items in magelo, I prefer to stick with the earring I have. Preservation of Xegony is still doing me some good, as is the FT, and 40ac is not easy to replace in an earring.

As far as FT in general, I agree, once you get to time, your flowing thought is going to suffer.

There are a few things in god you can use to counteract this, not to mention the FT5 you can get from tribute if needed.

It's 25ac + 15ac aug P

But,anyway, I misread your magelo, thought you had quarm neck in there for a better focus than the earring. Since you don't I would keep the quest earring for sure.

I love having FT. I feel it saves my life and makes me a better tank a lot of the time.

If FT is gonna suffer in PoTime then I don't mind buying a FT1 and FT2 aug with ldon points and grab and extra 3 FT if I need them.

The hardest thing I see doing is giving up the cloak from the arbitor in Plane of Earth (FT5 cloak) in order to grab a back item with much higher than 15ac. I'll probably just wait for GOD back item instead =p

Oh btw I am still going back and forth using your post to figure out the type of loot I see myself getting Iustus. Well written.

Oh btw guys. Since this is a sticky thread I'd like to post this link here if any of you want to download it.

http://www.eqinterface.com/sdown...s=&id=2536

What this does, if you unzip the files in to your UI folder, it will change your friends window in to a Plane of Time loot table. So when you hit alt + f, instead of getting your list of friends, it will come up with 6 tabs. Phase 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and Quarm. Clicking on a tab will give you the loots that drop in each phase.

If you click on a link you know how a box comes up with that item in it. Well that's how it looks when you click on, let's say Phase 1 tab. It will be a bunch of items each in their own box showing all stats, effects, etc.

Kinda nice and gives you something to look at while mobilizing for raid or LFG =)

Yes and no. 15 ac is in augment form, but its a type 7 augment, and any replacement will almost certainly have a type 8 slot. I have all the easy to get type 8 augments to AC, so that 15 ac augment is not so replaceable.

If you put those 15 AC augments on elemental bracers you are in a similar situation. Upgrading your bracer means losing an augment that you will not easily replace.

This is of course assuming you are as AC crazy as I am, willing to put an AC augment in every slot given the chance.

I can't find this shard on lucy or allakhazam. Where did you find the info on it?
