I don't think the question should be why would they give us a slow but rather what would having a slow do for our class at this point in the game. I think if you put some serious thought into it you would agree that having a slow would rebalance our class to fit in better with the direction the game is going now.

Wonderful point you made that this being 100% horseshit, but then again so is monks tanking korafax or mages tanking obf and cod, what we are seeing is continued erosion of our abilities through the course of the last 2 expansions and seeing the rise of some of the other classes to fulfill our group role, in case you wernt there for the beginning or even for the first few years you would know that if a group was just needing a tank and there wasent one available then they were usually dead in the water. class balancing changed that.... what we need now is something that gives us an advantage again , if your perfectly happy at having seen all the happen through the years then gratz to you, I for one am very dissatisfied at the way pallys importance has been degraded.
If we push for an aa slow this sloves the problem.
I know some of uber players just really dont give a shit because your all that and a bag a chips but some of us who dont have raid armor and struggle to maintain viability in group content desperatly need something other than a flying pegasus.....

im still not convinced slow aa is a solution here. were fighting to get our base melee dps increased. going for AA slow too might not fit in comfortably w/ devs. that and slow isnt exactly in our class scheme. MAYBE AA Undead slow...but seriously doubt live.

Slay Undead AA that increases frequency of slays
Horsemanship AA that makes us moving while mounted as if we aren't. No speed up and slow down.
Accuracy and/or Flurry AA line.

Knights are seen in history as being on horses. I propose a class specific AA that would allow us
greater dps from horseback. Set it up as the spire system:

1st spire AA= Equestrian Sense
1. Balance 5,6,7
2. Strength 5,6,7
3. Horsmanship 5,6,7

2nd spire AA= Equestrian Attack
1. 1hs dps 7,8,9
2. 2hs dps 7,8,9
3. 2hb dps 7,8,9

The devs could then use their little formulas to increase the pally dps. Just a thought!

i like this idea except for 1 flaw in it. Most of the time when dps is being considered is in the raiding environment. 99% of the raids are indoor where mounts arent allowed.

I typically don't post here, however I had a few idea's for possible aa's.

1.) Triggered HoT with a 1k initial heal for group. That has a +50% hate modifier (not the actual number that would be used obviously). Put this on the same timer for Hand of Piety so one or the other can be used. (I think this is inline with us already having our only AE hate as group heals. With the HoT being able to give us aggro on any further npc's that attack our group.

2.) PEGASUS MOUNT now that they have (in no lev zones) allowed you to keep lev on and retain other effects of the spell.

3.) Activated AA that increases Shielding and/or avoidance by a certain % or # for a short duration. (for all 3 tank classes)

4.) INVIS AA!! Make it cost 30 aa's for all I care but I HATE running out of invis pots and having to use my 15 second cast time invis mask...

5.) Activated AA that increases our base damage (slay's excluded) by a specific % (don't think a specific # would work here as it would need to scale accordingly from old raid/group/new group/new raid weapon damage's) for a short duration 45 seconds. Usable every 32 minutes.

I've wanted to see this AA for a long time:

Class:
Focus of Battle:
Activated AA (toggle maybe, or removable buff) that will make all single-target Beneficial spells cast by the paladin self-only. Detrimental and group spells still hit our target.

The thought is that this would be an awesome ability to allow us to self-heal, self-buff in combat without needing to target self, heal, re-target the MOB. Gives us a slight dps boost and a huge convenience boost!

Possibly future ranks could also allow you to specify a target in the group to lock spells on to no matter who you have targeted? I bet clerics would like this also :)

oo, good one ebob9. The "future ranks" thing is probably wayyyy out there with regards to code work, but changing targettype from single to self is totally something an AA could do. It'd make a great archetype AA for all casters, even. Obviously of less use to, like, necromancers, but whatever.

1. AA that modifies Holyforge reducing the duration and reducing the recast time, but at the same time boosts the dps greatly vs all mobs, but has zero effect on slay undead.

2. Slay Undead modifiers - random chance with higher end or top slays to knock mob down - higher chance with more aas - this would only happen when you got within a 1% of your current top slay.

3. Squire - will not attack any mob that is targeted my MA in camp, but will stun cc any mob that is not duration about the same as swarm pets. - Something for multi mob pulls that does not encroach into dps territory - It will need decent aggro and hps ac to survive a few more seconds than your average swarm pet against a normal level mob additional aa levels would increase survival and duration slightly. Higher level would possibly even grant an AC bonus to the knight by guarding the knight like warriors do other players.

4. Friar - short duration - healing pet that boosts healing on group a simliar duration as a swarm pet.

5. Hold the Line - shield required AA when activate snares knight 95%, steadily drains mana, endurance and a small amount of hps, but reduces melee damage by 95% while its active. or when mana, endurance are exhausted. Higher levels could confer an ae aggro effect.

2) Focused Casting - When purchased all single target beneficial spells will default to Self when there is an unfriendly mob targeted.
3) Soul Abrasion For Paladins - Increases Damage on the Devout Fury Line and proc rate per rank
4) Hateful Bash - Adds a chance of a hate proc on a shield bash. Further ranks will increase hate and proc rate.
5) Healing Fury - Adds a healing recourse to the Devout Fury Line
6) Focused Crusade - Sacrifices our healing ability for greatly improved offense for a short period. Further ranks increase offensive abilities and time while decreasing healing ability.
7) Divine Gift - Self Divine Intervention ability. Further ranks increase chase of activation and heal amount
