Force of Disruption --- Not taken hold?

Just purchased force of disruption,the upgrade of hand of disruption. Noticed some of the casts get the 'not take hold' message (about 50% of the time actually) instead of the 'your target is hit by a Force of Disruption' msg. Thought those were from my Eulogy augged with JotE (as rune IV blocks out rune III) so didn't notice them at first. Anyone else having the same problem? It seems to me whether it hits or not is entirely random (not about the mob is casting or not).

P.S. The 'not taken hold' msgs I got were from fighting orcs in Bloodmoon Keep just FYI.

Undead mobs resist it or are not affected by it, they don't get the "not taken hold" message. Not taken hold implies that something else is blocking it from landing on the mob.
